MusicLink / iPod experience
Hi All! I'm considering getting a Civic Sedan EX sometime in the near future. I was wondering if anyone can provide some input on their experience with using the Honda MusicLink that lets you control your iPod with the factory head unit, and steering wheel, controls as well as charge the iPod.
How well does this work? Is there any lag when controlling the ipod via the HU or steering wheel controls? Is it reliable? Just looking for any kind of info from folks that have used it. I really like the idea of the functionality the MusicLink offers, pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Just want to get an idea of how WELL it does this before adding that option onto the car. Thanks! Jeff |

You can check out this video Gizmodo did on the Hybrid w/navi to get an idea of what you'd be in for:

Although I have no personal experience with it, others have. Check out this link:

Don't get it, waste of money. i don't like the fact it doesnt display the song title on your HU. Sound quality is not great. And mine, the spongy material that protects is rubbing against the back of my glove dept and it makes this annoying squeaking noise while driving. I wish i rather saved the money and bought a cheap hook up to the aux plug.

I run my ipod on a proFIT Ipod mount stuck on the inside of my console. Run a short wire to the Aux input and then your stock ipod controls are right at your fingertips. All in all, it works out very well, sounds good and isn't distracting or cheesy. In fact, the proFIT (check www.crutchfield.com for details) looks like it came as part of the care.
Also, you can watch video while you are just sitting in the car if you get the video verison... I watch recorded TV shows or movies over lunch hour from time to time. Not a bad deal. Just something to consider... Less |

Avoid it at all costs. The MusicLink is junk on either a nav or non-nav. I had it installed originally and had it taken out less than 48 hours later for a refund. You're honestly better off spending the $50 for an auxiliary cable and a car charger. The iPod fits nicely between the shifter and the E-brake.
