subs not bad but its not great. it just alows the other speakers to not have to have the bass load as well. i would say two w3 jl subs in a 10 or mabey 12 inch. but i havnt heard great things about doing it with the stock HU so im not real sure... wait and see i guess.

What model Alpine amp is it? Cuz watts don't mean anything...Sure 100W is 3dB louder than 50W but if the gains are set wrong, filter(s) are wrong, load imp. is wrong, then nothing will matter.

Well the two subs compared to one can be louder becuase of the increased surface area.

Either way you have to get one 4ohm DVC sub or two 2ohm DVC subs. So the final load will be 2ohms in both situations.

i got 2 JL 12w3v3's in a ported box in my SI running off of a 500 watt JL amp. It's very impressive, you should try this setup out if u have the cash.
I also have this running off a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 HU.

Personally I liked the sub, but I couldnt use it anymore once I decided to change my speakers.

Get a dual 2 ohm Alpine Type R 12. Throw it in a ported box and wire it to 1 ohm. The speaker will even match your Si badges!

Buy yourself a spare battery so you don't get stranded when you run the stock battery dead with those amps. Or at least a portable jump starter.

Been running a 1000/1 JL and Alpine mrp-f24 for the past two months. My headlights don't flicker unless I set the subwoofer setting to a ridiculous level (which isn't needed when you have a 12w7 ported, tuned to 28hz and in a trunk, unless you just like to go deaf), and I've had my system running on ACC for over 15 minutes and no delay in starting the car.

No electrical mods have been made *yet*, but I do plan on upgrading the Big 3 just for help in current flow. I wouldn't buy another battery until you put the amps/speakers in and see how it truly effects your electrical system.
