the header is going to add more hp.

i think ive decided to skip out on the intake and just get headers back (prolly no cat) is this bad? i came to this conclusion because i plan on getting the "marvie" kit when i can afford it

Yes it is the ticket for N/A builds... But you don't want it as first upgrade, according to the Hondata website you need a minimum of a intake or cat-back or you will lose power over the stock setup. I waited until I had the intake and exhaust before I reflashed...

Again according to the Hondata website the ECU reflash should be undetectable.

The header won't do as much good without the cat-back installed. Your better off waiting on the header and going with a good cat-back. Next you could go with the RT high flow cat or the AJP RT high flow cat.

I got my ecu back from Hondata on Friday and I would say it's definitely worth the money. VTEC kicks in at 4400 rpms and the power comes on in a more linear fashion like the dyno charts show. I don't know if it will help you that much in racing since you will be spending most of your time at higher rpms, but on the street, it really adds to the fun factor with the newfound midrange power. I haven't really played around with the higher rev limit. Although it is a great mod, I still want more power.

Hondata recommends that you have at least an exhaust or intake done prior to their reflash--->having both done, exhaust & intake (E/I), is even better

what about gas mileage? i know making your car faster probably makes it use more gas but does anyone WHO ACTUALLY HAS THE RE-FLASH (no speculation responses) want to comment on the gas mileage before and after?

Didn't read the whole thread, but here's some info for you.
The recently released Civic Type R in the UK has the same 197 HP i-Vtec engine of our Si here in the US. The only difference is that the UK Type R is tuned so the High Cam kicks in @ 5100 RPMs. If that's the case, and the UK Type R is warrantied, then the Si reflashed so the High Cam kicks in at full throttle @ 4500RPMs shouldn't be a problem.

Aha! If Honda can do that with the same stock engine I am sure another company can do it as well. Obviously it's beyond Hondata's will or ability so I'm hoping These guys can

I just got my ECU back yesterday. Let it idle for about 15 minutes while trying to adjust my tire-rubbing CAI. Wasn't able to fix the CAI, after putting sharpee on the spot that rubs, it still rubbed after my test drive.

Impressions: Much smoother power, all I have right now is an intake, my SSR header doesn't get installed until Wednesday when I go out to SSR. The power comes on quicker and smoother.

My first fillup was 25mpg and I had been getting ~23.5mpg for similar driving before any mods. My second tank seems to be doing even better. I use 93 pump gas. I have I/E/Reflash.

I really want to get the re-flash but I don't want to sacrifice mileage too much. I drive a lot and gas is damn expensive! 25mpg is what I get with my bone stock Si so.....yeah....please keep us updated. +rep

It won't do anything to your gas mileage unless you are just vtec'ing more, and discovering your new found midrange. Most likely if you are trying to save gas you are already shifting at 3 and cruising at 2, which the reflash does nothing to.

Hey. that looks promising. Wonder how soon until it will be available for our cars. I don't want the Hondadata Reflash because you are stuck with their program regardless if you like it or not. I like some adjustability and options which you don't have with the Hondadata Reflash. Heck, it doesn't even adjust your timing at all and for the price it just isn't worth it to me.
If it would come with an optional programmer then the price would be justified but without they are just way out there.
I really don't want my Vtec to kick in at 4500 rpm. I think the soonest I would want it to activate would be like the Brits have it around 5k or so.
The stock VTEC comes in way too late and the Hondadata is a tad too soon.
