Ok to run basemap?

I have an 07 Si coupe with a skunk2 race header k&n sri and an invidia q300 catback. I currently have a cel because my primary o2 sensor is broken and not even on my header. As I wait to get it replaced would it be okay to run just a k&n basemap or a basic calibration?

an intake only basemap would be REALLY wrong for your setup. despite no O2 it would run really lean.

Calibrations | FlashPro Tuning

^There are several basemap calibrations you can try on there. Usually basemaps run rich just to be on the safe side but try a few out and double check that ur Air/Fuel ratios are good and u should be safe.

Being that I don't have an o2 sensor to read I can't check my af ratio that was why I was wondering if it would be ok

ahhhh right.

basemaps usually run pretty rich so you shouldnt worry about leaning out. Before Flashpro a ton of people ran basic boltons (I/H/E) without a tune and they were fine. I ran basic boltons with a base tune for a few weeks and my car was fine.

Of coarse you may or may not have good AFR but most people seem to have no trouble running stock tune or base tune with full boltons...hope that helps!

yeah that helps a little better.. without the tune i was running rich .. there was some soot in my exhaust that i cleaned out but it hasnt come back.. may have just been the exhaust burning off but i just want to make sure my car isnt going to go into limp mode if i dont monitor my AF ratio without an o2 sensor

Hey man red your private message... What basemap did you run that it did that weird thing on you?

i would recommend you to try this base map: Injen CAI, Skunk2 RH, Skunk2 70mm | FlashPro Tuning

According to VitViper... when choosing a basemap choose it based on

1. Header
2. Exhaust
3. Intake

In that order. So your Skunk2 header is what you should be looking for when looking for a basemap.

Give that a try first and let me know how it goes

i believe that was the basemap i was running.. changed a few things like the vtec window and rev limiter but i saw that advice from vit about the order of choosing and thats probably why i used that basemap. thanks!

no problem... i had a similar issue as yours. I didnt even know my primary o2 sensor was out until i started to get tuned by Vit... he will tell you he can't begin tune your car until you get that o2 sensor fixed anyways.

yeah i may need a new harness im hoping i just wired it wrong so im keeping my fingers crossed.. im gonna try and run that skunk2 base map.. i know i ran the k&n sri basemap and it sucked.. i dont think ive tried the skunk2 one. thanks again!

Yeah i ran about 3 different basemaps myself before getting tuned... the K&N SRI basemap from Hondata, the "Injen CAI, Invidia RH, Invidia Q300 Exhaust" basemap (I have K&N SRI, Invidia RH and Q300), and also another basemap from Flashprotuning.com.... the Injen CAI, Invidia RH & Q300 ran the best :/

Moral of story...get tuned!
