Pumped !!
I ordered my Flashpro via a group buy on 8thcivic.
Background: Car: 2008 Honda Civic Si Mileage: 8,000 Type: Sedan Color: Galaxy Gray Engine: 100% Stock Suspension: HFP?? (Not sure, but I believe so) Wheels: 18" HFP Tires: Pilot, not sure the model... Modifications: 1) TWM Base Bushings - nice difference in the feel of the shift gates 2) Ingalls ETD (set to lowest(stiffest) setting) - noticable difference in overall drivability, higher RPM shifting improved noticably, mid to low rpm shifting improved as well 3) Hasport 70A Rear Engine Mount - yet to install, looking forward to that...hoping it helps to speed up the 1-2 high-rpm shift I love the car to begin with, it's my first stick-shift car and I've finally gotten the 1st - 2nd shift smoothly at lower/daily rpm's. Shifting from 1st to 2nd at higher rpm's requires a bit of patience to bring the shifter completely into 2nd, but I'm hoping the Hasport rear mount helps with this shift in particular.I've yet to street-race the car, but I'm not really interested in that. I'm looking more into auto-cross. I think that when I do compete in auto-cross, I will likely bring the car back to a stock mapping, to keep the car in the 'G-Stock' class. Before I even think about competing, I'd like to get more comfortable with the heel-toe downshift from 3rd to 2nd...preferably with a double clutch....keep those synchros happy. I'm looking forward to the increased mid-range power after I get a solid base map. I'm considering Vitviper's base map, since I've heard good things on that mostly. Open to suggestions though. I'm looking forward to dropping my feedback on this once I get the FP going. If anyone can offer any suggestions/tips/pitfalls-to-avoid, or general input, that's more than welcome. -Michael

I'm scheduled to get it on Saturday, I live on Long Island...but the post office still has mail on sat?? lol My work schedule has been rediculous lately, so I'm not sure if I'll really have a lot of time on the weekends to mess with this toy too much. For now, I'm going to read into it as much as I can. I'll be very impressed if I receive it on Saturday. I'm hoping that the tuning with a fully stock motor will serve to shorten the learning curve with this thing. |

Yeah the USPS delivers mail on Saturdays also. UPS and FedEx don't.
The number one thing I'm hoping to get rid of is the god-awful throttle lag . If I can minimize that, I'm satisfied.

Gopower. We were on their 3rd gb. It's been real succesful. Crazy low price, lowest anyone has offered. It's over but I would suggest getting in on it next time they have one. If they have one of course.

The group buy also went beyond 10 people and could've went longer but they had to cut it off then.
With success like that, they should do another one in the future. Just keep on the look out or shop for a used ones, they seem to come and go quite often enough. |

Hmm, can't find a way to turn off 1st gear dampening. I've searched around and heard you need to do a MAP based calibration but that option is disabled for ALL R18s, both MT and AT, yet the latest Flashpro Manager says it's now supported for the R18.
EDIT: And yes, I have Show Advanced Parameters on. EDIT2: Nevermind, the update only lets you use MAP based fuel tables, not MAP Speed/Density calibrations. Hondata says it doesn't support MAP. Guess I'm SOL on this. Last edited by BANGER; 05-04-2012 at 09:19 PM. |

By the throttle lag, are you referring to the rev-hang? Are those synonymous? If that's the case, I would not have thought the AT in the R18 would have that issue, or it be that noticable. But, then again, it's all basically the same software, so who knows. I bet if you did have it, removing it would probably give a slight boost in mileage. Should be getting mine today! But, I"m at work all day...hoping to start tuning tomorrow. Actually, there is an autocross event by me happening from 8AM to 4PM tomorrow, so that may keep me from starting to mess with this thing too...lol...I'm def not going to race just yet, but I'd like to try to go and talk to some people and see what it's all about. Banger, let us know your progress, hope it works well for you. |
