Flashpro for dummies (dataloging and analyzing)

Ive got the day off and am dedicating it to searching and learning how to datalog my car and analyze the logs. I have searched and read for hours and have some specific easy newb questions. I think this would benefit many people new to fp. Also maybe cut down on numerous pointless threads.

When i go out to datalog what specifically should i do as far as driving. Warm car up then press datalog and go for a one or two minute ride at partial throttle? Then do a 3rd gear wot pull then press button again. Do i truly need to go to 8600 or can i back off at 8100-8200 rpm?

When i get back to the computer i plug in the fp then what. Mainly how do i pull up air fuel and knock count for my datalog.
Then how do you look at air fuel and knock count throughout your graph?

How do you know what you did while driving just by looking at the graph?
(Like people say here i was at partial throttle or here was a wot 3rd pull)

Thanks in advance for any help, i think once these questions are answered in a dumbed down form it will help alot of people. Hell i wish something like this was stickied up top (im sure im not the only one).

FlashPro Help

This answers most of your questions as far as how to datalog, add new displays, and see the graph and displays. As far as what you should do when your data logging depends greatly on why your doing them.
If your getting datalogs for your tuner then do exactly what he tells you.

what you do while data logging depends on what you are trying to tune such as part throttle or full throttle or idle. No you dont need to go all the way to 8600 rpms but keep in mind that means you will not have data to tune those rpms.

for pulling up the data log you just simply click the flashpro tab in flashpro manager. For graphs I would watch vitvipers video on flashprotuning.com to help set up some good graph templates that will allow you to view the data in a way that makes sense.

3) Once you setup the proper graph templates you will be able to look at the graphs and know exactly how your driving.

The datalog is a series of values put out by the cars various sensors. With out a graphical display to make sense of these values it is all just numbers.

Displays | FlashPro Tuning

If you go to this site they have pre made displays that will show you the important info. Or take the time to make your own display. It will help you learn about your car and what all the sensors do.

As for tuning... the hardest part of tuning on the street yourself, is minimizing variables. Things like humidity and barometric pressure have an effect of tuning. also different road surfaces have different rolling resistances and can make it tricky to tune. That is why guys will spend the money for a dyno tune. Even then, it depends on how well the dyno replicates your intended driving conditions.

sup dude, get back on flashprochat tonight if you dont figure it out and i will walk you thru it.. its pretty easy really..... just dl a display from flash pro tuning and then go into your flashpro manager and up at the top you will see "displays"... just load the display you previously downloaded and there ya go... and you have to have a calibration loaded to see ign tables and what not

The help file shows you exactly how to edit fuel tables, they can be found under the calibration menu. but if you don't know how to open them i probably wouldn't edit them either
