Honda Civic is at the Top...

... of Canada's Top 10 most stolen vehicles.

If you're wondering why we Canadians are paying a premium for this awesome car, read the following article.

Honda Civics again at top of Canada's top 10 stolen vehicles list: IBC - Yahoo! Canada Autos

1. 1999 Honda Civic SiR 2-door

2. 2000 Honda Civic SiR 2-door

3. 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX/WRX STi 4-door AWD

The new civics have Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent System.
That article refers to older civics - i doubt the newer models have this problem.

Charging a premium for an 8th gen (6th for Si) seems unfair as the cars are not on the list and are much more difficult to steal.

Civics have been #1 to #3 in the Us for the past few years as well. One reason why they are so much to insure. It's amazing the differences to pay here in Phoenix depending on your zip code.

Those statistics are always skewed. They don't take into account the popularity of the vehicle, so Civics, Accords, Camrys, and (in the US) F-150s always top the list. It would be interesting to see a statistic that reported # of vehicles stolen divided by the # of each model on the road.
