Just my opinion, but I think the price hike is justified. From what I've read, this car is a much better car...better MPG...more features. Again, just my $.02.

I agree - I think Honda is really trying to move the Civic upmarket and if you compare the 8th gen LX to the 7th gen EX the pricing strategy makes sense.

well, i guess Honda isn't tryin to compete with the same market as Toyota, thru scion.

Well, if Scion's could sell the volume that Honda's sell, let alone civic, Honda might put some effort into competing a little more directly. Plus Honda is still seen as a very fresh brand, where Toyota seems like more of a middle aged car purchase.

Also, I wonder if there would be a way to increase fuel economy without killing all the power like in a Geo. Would a good performance filter do the trick, or are those things over rated?

some aftermarket filters can give you an increase of 5% or so on your mpg. The only problem is that most people like the way the new filters sound and end up revving their engines up higher and harder lol. Hey, it already gets better mpg than the 7thgen, and it's a larger engine.

the civic is not in the same class as the scion vehicles. they are bringing the fit/city/jazz to compete in that segment
