Actually, the way that the new Hydrogen powered Honda works is actually very simple.. It runs off of your natural gas at home and you can fill up at any point in time. It takes the hydrogen out of the natural gas and stores it in 2 tanks.. 1 for you to fill your car up with, and a 2nd that can be used as a backup generator in emergency situations. Actually, in testing they showed that a house running off of the generator ran pretty close to as clean as a fully solar powered house, which is amazing.

Like mentioned before, the emissions for the NGX is almost pure water vapor. That is definitely a huge jump over diesel. While I agree that frugal-minded diesel engines are better than the gas guzzlers we have today, the hydrogen powered cars that are upcoming is better than them in every way (imo).

[edit] I caught myself second guessing my post, and now I can't find the article that I was reading that showed how these engines worked.

Just as today's gas powered cars are more efficient and speedy than the model T, or a 1958 Ford. But to say that a diesal motor is the way to go proves your ignorance. Batteries can be recycled, plain and simple, diesal fuel cannot.

you gotta be kidding, right? WAY OUT OF LINE on this one! You're seriously saying that every guy out there who would rather drive a big ass diesel truck than a prius or an insight is a "silly silly man"? C'mon now... Horsepower and torque may not be everything, but 0-60 in more than 12 seconds is NOTHING!!!

my Jeep CJ used to be propane powered...i used a "carb" from a fork lift and had the tank in the rear seating area....switched back to gasoline because the place that would fill the tank wanted to charge me an arm and leg because it was not being used for traditional purposes....jerks

Here in Europe we have a diesel Civic variant with 2.2CTDI engine. It makes 0-60 in 8.6 seconds. Is that enough? If not, a number of performance kits are available which let you to drive the beast faster. They rock, but are a bit expensive.

I Love My Gx!

I bought my GX 2 months ago and I LOVE this thing!!! You should see the smile on my face when I fill up my car and the total on the pump shows $4.50!!!

Utah has quite a few public fill up stations, plus I totally love that I can install a pump at my house and fill up off my own Natural Gas supply. I haven't done this yet, but how cool is that???

Natural Gas prices in my state are controlled by the State Public Service Commision, so theres no day to day (or even week to week) price volatility. The price set for the entire state is .78 cents a gallon at the public fill stations.

Oh yeah, I'm LOVING it!!!

I think Diesel's going to be the next big thing. Just wait until the Diesel Accord.
Actually for the time being, there is NO cost differential. With the Federal Goverment providing $4,000 tax credit (yep CREDIT), and almost every individual State kicking in an additional credit (mine, UT) kicked in $2,000, the differential was actually surpassed. And unlike Hybrids, the tax credit is not limited to the first 'so many' people that apply. The CNG vehicles have no limit. Everyone who buys one will get the tax credit.

So with the political climate in place now trying to encourage fuel efficient alternative vehicles with Tax Credits, along with the HUGE savings in Fuel, it is actually MORE expensive to not buy this car for a daily commuter, or second car.
