Wow. The Mazdaspeed3 is rated at like 260 and only put down like 218 to the wheels, pretty shitty. I love how we make so much power NA, wait until my turbo comes along and I pass a broken down GTI....mmhmmm.

You're doing it wrong!!

Nice find skittles. Thanks!
The MS3's engine sure does lurch! Anyone else notice how the Si's exhaust note was 10 times more exhilarating than the others? The flat torque curve was cool too. Might not be all that much, but at least it is consistent. :) |

I'm definitely with Gonzo on the engine sound... I would be nice to have more torque all around though. S/C to the rescue!

I'm not that impressed with the MS3's dyno stats. I had been hearing nothing except great things about this car and its performance.
I don't like how limited its range is. I would hate to have to shift before redline in order to stay in the peak power ranges of my ride. |

Hmmm......I wonder how heatsoaked that MS3 motor was. It's no secret that they really lay down once the heat gets to them.
Lunchboxed, shifting before redline is something that you get used to quick, unless you need a visual aid. I shifted my Mustang at a shade over 5K to acheive the fastest times. I have a pretty good ability to "feel out" the power curve when driving cars. Maybe it's something that some people lack (not saying specifically you), the ability to feel the rate of acceleration slowing down....... All in all, the Civic looked the most impressive and it's probably the cheapest, no? |

Okay, just a little off subject but not. I looked at the Speed3 this week. Not a test drive just a sit and play sort of thing. I don't care for it. The only things it has going for it that my Si doesn't is tourque/hp and space to put large Ikea boxes. I don't care for the interior, I don't care for the exterior. Overall, if you have kids I'd say it's a great family performance car but if you don't, buy a GTI or an SI.
I still want a WRX. |
