running a header untuned?

Okay, sorry for the noob question. But, I am still a wicked noob to Hondas and I have searched, and searched. If I install a race header (I have a cat-back now), would it be safe to run untuned for a little while? Or would it be best to wait and get a flashpro? Reason being my car has to go into the shop anyway so I figured I could throw in a header at the same time. BTW my car is a 2009 si.

i had header/intake/exhaust with no flash pro.
i sold my exhaust and will be getting a new one soon.
youll be fine to run it without flashpro.
flashpro just fine tunes it to your mods that you do have. so slap that header on there!

Flashpro will make night > day difference. But you can run without.

did you ever beat on the car?? like joy riding or race it without fp?? i got i/h/e but no fp and im scared to get on it until i buy fp loll will i be fine if i beat on it at least sometimes till i buy the fp??

you will be fine, i have been running i/e/h for almost 2 years now, and my car sees vtec at least twice a day, although i will be buying flashpro in the near future.

2 years untune? How is the gas mileage? All i have is a intake and a tuned by BV1. I get better gas mileage then stock.

I don't know what he gets but I'm running i/im/h/e and throttle body spacer untuned and get 24-26 mpg in city, and 26-30 mpg highway.

oh thats still good, I should have rephrased that . I meant to ask how long you had those mods on (in mileage)? Like say you had it for 2 years and been driving with the mods for a total of say... 50k for example...

But that was good info too!

Oh sorry the other guy is the one that had it for 2 years I've had my i/e for about 10,000 miles and the intake manifold for 5,000 and I just installed the header about 2,000 miles ago. My mpg hasn't changed really at all from stock if anything it got better. Only when I'm home from school do I get low mpg those country roads you just have to stay in vtec

Depends on what header you buy I got the skunk2 alpha and it came with a defouler and so far(knock on wood) no CEL.

Oh I see. After been on my i/e, my mpg got better too (untuned). You going to get fp?

When I ran I/H/E I thought the car felt much slower than stock. mpgs were pretty much the same but the car felt like crap. probably due to too much flow through the 3" CBE

i plan on getting both header and fp at the same time if i ever do get it.

I just used a basemap and tuned it for my car. I would suggest get the header and fp at the same time because I was a little disappointed with the power with the stock tune
