The SI is gone..
As of 9:30pm last night, the SI is no more. I was headed to see my brother on his first day at work, and just after I had gotten off 400 on exit 7 I struck a 4 runner who tried to turn accross 4 lanes of traffic. I was doing 45, T-boned the 4runner, I spun around and the 4runner flipped over. Many witnesses, the police were on the scene in under a minute. The police put him at fault (of course..) and cited him with two tickets. I'll be alright, my knee was split open and I have some extreme seatbelt trauma, but nothing that won't heal, last I heard, the other guy was ok, worse off than me being that he rolled. Unfortunatly the SI is toast, I didnt get to see it, as the airbag dust caused me to lose vision for a couple minutes but im 90% sure the engine and trans are damaged beyond repair, the body is long gone. All I can say is thank god for the seatbelt locking after you hit vtec, I never let it unlock and it saved me ALOT of pain, I was so snug that my head didnt even hit the airbag.
I likely won't be getting another SI, as much as I liked the car, this experience has tainted the whole econo box sized car for me. I'll take what ever I get to the next meet, though. EDIT: excuse any crazy grammar and spelling, I'm all doped out on painkillers atm. |

damn so that was your car i saw at 9:30 ~ 10ish when i was coming back from la fitness on exit 7 to visit my friend on alph. highway. I hope your ok, i also had a major accident as well before my civic, a heads on collision going camping at vogal state park GA. it was a guy who fell asleep behind the wheel coming down a blind corner. broke both my legs ankles, and collar bone. they had to use jaws of life, and a hydrolic tool to re bend the metal wrapped around me to pull me out. after that i was scared to drive for a while due to shock. i hope you recover quickly : ]

Thanks guys, It's a shame I lost my SI so some guy could get home 4 seconds quicker than he would have if he would have just waited till I got threw the intersection. When I was in the car and in the hospital I wasn't really upset over what had happened, just happy we bother were alright, but now that it's setting in, I'm pissed and I'm suing. Pure selfish negligence caused me alot of pain and put me out of work for a while.

For 125k miles, it had some amazing paint, I was pretty sure for a while that it was a repaint.
I got the police report yesterday, turns out the guy wasn't in the turning lane on the opposite side, he acctually was in the far left lane and decided he needed to turn so with no warning, he cut accross the 4 lanes on his side and then into the 3rd lane on my side where I hit him. The police report has a diagram that honestly looks like a bad joke. |

He needs to clear it with the insurance company before he takes any parts off the car. They are going to tell him he can take whatever aftermarket parts he wants off the car....as long as he replaces them with the OEM parts.
