Oil life ?

I just got my oil changed for the first time today. My oil life meter still shows 50%. I'm guessing they just forgot to reset something when they changed the oil. Either that or they left the same oil in there and just took my $39! Any ideas?

ha... no i bet they changed the oil but forgot the meter. it actualy is only mesuring milage not the actual oil itself. im guessing you got it changed around 2500 or so? the reset is done by holding the reset button down untill the oil life blinks then press it again for a few seconds. its in the manual.. i could be a bit off.

That's how the one in my Trailblazer is.

Check the oil, if its black they didn't change it. You should have waited until the maintenace minder was at 10 or 15% especially for the first time. To reset the maintence minder select the oil life and hold the button down till it blinks, let off it for a second the hold it down again till it resets.

Thanks for the help everyone. I was able to reset it. And they did actually change the oil, I watched them put it in. In my first post I was just joking about the jiffy lube post I saw on here a while back.

Someone didnt read their owners manual then....

It does factor in your driving style and stuff like that. I dropped 10% last weekend driving my car hard. Plus its sitting alot more during the week not being driven so that might factor in for me too.

There is a button sequence to reset it. My Honda dealer did it for me when I got my free oil change. I'm sure you could call a Honda service dept and ask what that button sequence is. Or it may be in the manual.
