Confession: Audi A4, A Car I've Always Wanted

I've hidden this passion for years but I've always loved this car. Since 1999 I've contemplated getting an Audi. Every chance I've had to get one I've passed because their reliability issues have kept me away. It kills me. I still want one. I joke that Audi is German for "electrical issues" but damn. I still want this car.

Recently a black on black and limo tinted 2.0T with a slight drop has shown up in town. I lust after this luscious German road whore. I swear this car is haunting me. All I've ever seen is this view:

Random black A4 found on internet, not the sexy beast I'm in lust with.

But I've only seen that side because I know that being side by side with him is opening up a bag of worms that I don't want to deal with.

But seriously, look at this thing!

I mean this as a confession because I'm supposed to be a true Honda girl. lol But I'm also a reformed VW lover and lately I've been feeling a twinge on my heart strings from an old love of mine.

I've been looking for a possible next car as either a replacement or daily driver. I had been avoiding Audi but dammit I can't. Honestly, I wish it would stop. My current future stable may include a BMW328i, Acura TL-S, Infinity G35, Lexus IS350 or G8 GT. I wish I could put this car on the list because it's always been the perfect car for me. I love how it drives, love the motor, the comfort, the look, the modability, hate the reliability.

I ask, how unreliable are they really? Do we really really know? Dammit, AUDI WHHHHHYYYYY!?!?!?!?!!!

the new audi's are straight up sexy, i love how they are incorporating the leds into their styling as well. although i believe the new a4 lacks that uber hot feature, its still a classy car that seems soo smooth and soo solid. that is unless some wires get crossed. lol.

i actually had the chance to get one before i got my Si, i went to a Lexus dealership to look at a Black IS300 with black 19's already on it, blacked out emblems everything but the dealer couldnt bring the price down where i wanted it so he also said he has an A4 2.0T on the lot for me to look at when he called me.

Seriously though, how much would you be willing to deal with on a car if it's unreliable

I've heard a lot of bad things about them being unreliable, but i do not think it is really that bad. I've known two people that have had 2.0T A4s or A3s, and they have been quite satisfied with the quality. My buddy has a GTI and he doesn't have a bad thing to say about it... yet

i think with every car, u can get a bad egg (or technically a lemon) but seriously they are a high end car company and wouldnt still be in business if they are THAT bad. i know a few people that are driving 10 year old and older vw/audi's and are lovin them; they will only drive german and swear by them. i think theyve just gotten a bad rap lately but if its something u love, then go for it and see for urself.

They used to have great rep back in the day. Its only when they started building some cars in Mexico that the quality and reliability started going down... but as Sexy6Speed has stated, it is a high end car company, so they do need to give a good product

can't top the quattro, audi makes some of the best AWD performers out there. But A5/s5 is damn sexy, coupe is the way to go. Of course if we were all tony stark we would drive the R8 (pure sex)

I didn't know these are built there too. I see tons of VWs going by on trains everyday. That wouldn't stop me though. My husband had a 1990 Audi 80 when we lived in Europe. That car survived Sicily and Greece before he had to give it up because of a transfer. It had issues (electrical funny enough) but it was a tank and was cheaper to own than both of my Alfa Romeos combined. They were faster though.

Please. Don't even get me started on the A5. I saw my first one in person last night and almost shat myself in the Lowe's Parking lot. THe R8 is just a dream. I think this is the first time I've ever advertised my secret Audi obsession. lol.

Every time I look at a new car I see the Audi and I sigh that's about it. Now I'm starting to get to this point where I'm curious but still hesitant. I really really really want an S4 but thats pushing it $$ wise. So I'll settle for a 2.0T. plus, very little $ will get you a nice boost with an Audi/VW product.

lol i believe you when you say you really really want it! I think if you want an A4 that bad, you should go for it. However, you should take the time to really think about all the pros and cons that the car has to offer. It might not be as fun to drive as an Si, but it will make up for it with the added luxury. As you've said, little $$ will also increase the cars performance!

I haven't driven one in a few years but I've never left an Audi dealership saying "No. That isnt' right." Whether it was a turbo 4 or a 6 I left saying "should I? Should I?" I passed up a chance 2 years ago for the Volvo and I often apologize for that. I'm telling you it's that fear of spending around $35k on a car only to have it go beserk like my dad's Passat did. Then again, I've never owned a car longer than 3 years and I'd probably lease whatever I get next. My dad on the other hand is still driving his '99 Passat GLS V6. It has issues with electronics like it's an extreme sport but that SOB still idles perfectly, is good on gas and will haul ass when ass hauling is called for.

That car is HOT!! I too must admit that Audis are the sh!t... One of my neighbors is a HUGE car enthusiast. He has tons of cars, literally. BMW, Benz, Viper, Caddy, and yes, an Audi. I was talking to him the other day and i asked him if he had to choose to keep one car out off all the ones he owns, which one would it be? He told me that without a doubt it would be the A8.

Until the R8 came into being, the S8 was my ultimate driver car that I was scared of. lol.
