Nihoncar Reviews: Civic Mugen RR

Yea I know, it's old news... but the review is new and is packed with a high def (720p) video review + a bunch of high quality images. Worth a read if you're bored at work like yours truly.

Lets start w/ some pics....

Excerpt from the review itself....

Pretty much like the Impreza Type RA-R, the Civic RR is not the kind you'll see at the traffic lights on a regular basis, the car will be made at a very exclusive 300 units.

The facts
- 240 PS, 15 more than the Civic Type-R, 85 more than the standard Civic (2.0GL).
- 218 Nm, slightly better than the 215 Nm of the regular Type-R and 30 Nm more than the 2.0 GL.
- 1255 Kg, 15kg lighter than the Type-R and 45 compared to the 2.0 GL.

Many thanks to Mugen for letting us test drive what certainly is the best factory Honda Civic ever built.

I absolutely love this model. I wish I could move to Japan just to buy one. Does anyone ever think we will see anything close to this in the US? I would for sure be in line to buy one the day they came out. Hell I would even settle for the Mugen Type R...

I will not be in that line with you, as much as I love my Si I could not justify the price. Take a look at the Mugen Si and how much that price jumped over the Si. Now take a car like the Civic type R and put that into the US market, a car that performs better than the Si and Mugen Si and watch the price skyrocket. With how much they charged for the Mugen Si I would want at least Civic type R performance.

Even so, at 46k thats priced in Japan... not including any import tax and such fees. Even at 46k, I would not buy the thing... I just started the thread to share the HQ video of it in action, and some nice pics

Good, less competition to get one for myself I agree with you on price in that it might cost more than its worth bet everyone knows that with the Mugen Si looks AND performance it will be one sweet package.

The price is waaayy too much for this. 46K?! NO THANKS! thats like the Mugen 30k for a rebadged basic SI with Mugen stickers. The Mugen we get isn't JDM either. The JDM one is so much nicer and better than the Mugen. Plus it's 100% Japan made and high quality build and materials, parts etc! whereas our USDM Civics Except Hybrid are 80% Canadian made with terrible build and materials quality. HOA really needs to close down the Alliston plant.

um for a "super" civic that performs just as well, if not better, as the CTR and only having 300 in production, i'd say 50k is worth it. i dont think people understand that not only are they paying for the name, but the rarity (ie supply and demand) and mods (ie MUGEN) as well, which in turn will equal higher prices.

but dang, i would DEF. get black honda genuine floormats, as i'd be too paranoid to dirty up the red floormats.
