I haven't ridden either of these bikes in a current form, so I can't really offer insight. But the R6 looks prettier.

Oh and the Interceptor has a V-4 with VTEC

Suzuki GS500 :)
That's what I have.
Start small, learn.. and then move to something bigger.
Don't forget to wear your gear.

startin off, yea, go w/ a 500 or something, but if you are a quick learner, go w/ a 600 or 750, because once you get used to the smaller one, you will want to upgrade. i kno its not on your poll but, GSX-R ftw!!!

I didn't realize this was your first bike, if it is then definitely look at a ninja 250, 500, or 650, a gs500, or a sv650

Brakes on new SS bikes are very dangerous for new riders.

i dont like honda bikes really, i feel like honda stole their design from the yamahas with the split headlight and the exhaust under the seat , id consider a gsxr600 if i were you from what i have read it seems like they are plenty fast and comfortable

added a new option to the poll

go with an SV650S, EX500, GS500 or something of the like to start off with.. a supersport 600 is only the 3rd worst bike to start on (2nd being a literbike, most being a hayabusa/zx-14)..

The new liter bikes may be worse than the hyperbikes, people who have owned both say that bikes like the gsxr1000 are much twitchier and power wheelie easier, and the brakes are twitchier as well when compared to something like the 'busa.

Modern SS bikes have gotten insane.
