Lets Stroll Down "Modification" Memory Lane:

So after reading an altezza post in the water cooler I decided to post this one.

What mods did you guys have back during like the original/2nd FATF back when taking a grocery getter with 115hp and modding it was cool?

Me, I remember the first thing I got was a "cavalier" sticker for my windshield, altezza taillights, and red winshield wipers. Also I HAD to get those cheap red/black seat covers from autozone!!!

No flaming, as everyone knows. When you first start modding you really have no clue what your doing and what you THINK looks good, really doesn't. Thankfully I realized this later on down the road.

My rice faze was WAY WAY back in 95/96 before FnF was ever even thought of when I had a Beretta with 16" chrome wheels, borla 4 1/2 tip on a flowmaster exhaust.. Hell I cut my rubber boot going to the filter and used duct tape to secure a K&N filter to it :)

I was only 17 but this was before the import scene ever took off.

I always thought that rice look was stupid. Way back when TFATF came out I was in my 01 civic lowered on TEIN coilovers, 17" simple 7-spoke wheels, HKS exhaust, AEM CAI, smoked tails, black housing TYC headlights, sidemarkers. Got props almost everyday I was out how the car was so clean, and a nice change from the other hondas in town.

You mean to tell me when you were 16 years old you never did one thing to your car that you now look back on and go "hahaha what the hell was i thinking?"

It's funny because I used to ALWAYS think aluminum wings were rediculous and then i look back now at my shiney altezza taillights and my red winshield wipers and know that what I did was just as bad as a big ol stairway to heaven on my trunk.

Or what about the phase when people shaved EVERYTHING! entire trunk, half of the headlights, corner lights, door handles, antenna....

i never really riced a car out, but i did have big plans back in 7th grade.

i wanted an integra, and i had already picked out the body kit and altezza's and 19 inch rims and the little things on the hood that spray the water would light up man i had it set.

then luckily my cousins ridiculed me so i grew out of that stage.

all i want for my car are a few simple mods, like tint, rims etc.

No, not really. Everything was pretty thought out, and exactly what I was looking for. I could post pictures...every mod was the origional mod. Nothing was replaced.
Now my prelude on the other hand...that was a number of years after TFATF and I wanted low, agressive, and extreme. I didnt do any crazy colors, or decals, but it had a big mouth Wings West kit on it. The performance parts were sound though. TEIN Flex, Very nice double 5 spoke wheels, Suspension Technique Sway bars, Strut Bars all over, HID retrofit, AEM intake, DC header, AEM pullies, Highflow cat, DC exhaust, Brembo Brakes, SS brakes lines, Carbon Hood, Clutch, Flywheel, Short Shifter. That was a great car, just a little extreme on the body kit for most. It literally sat about 3.5-4 inches off the ground.

I never had a rice phase. I don't even like the word rice. people over use the word, apply it to everything that isn't oem, and make it meaningless.

If anything the riciest thing I have are neons sitting in my garage that have never touched a car. They're brand new and have never been activated. red, of coure, because blue neons are soo F&F.

This thread kind of cracks me up a bit as when I was sixteen (1976), my first car was a '67 Pontiac LeMans Tempest with a 400 cid engine and 6 pack carbs. Had about 350 HP. Was a family car with a GTO engine basically. Rice was something from Rice-a-roni. Japanese cars were just a concept in Mr. Honda's brain at that time. "Mods" I worked toward were Mickey Thompson headers, Thrush glasspack mufflers or Crager wheels. Now I'm doing subtle mods to my '06 Si. Already have my HFP 18 wheels and bodykit. Waiting for my Comptech short shifter adapter. Only other things I've purchase for it are a carbon fiber license plate frame and made to fit sunshade. Guess I never quite grew up during the past 30 years because I've been a car buff the entire time. LOL

My first car was a pea green '75 Ford Maverick that my dad bought for me as long as I promised to cut the damned grass whenever he demanded it.

My first "real" car was an '84 CR-X (blue/grey color scheme). My first car that I was "super excited about" was an '89 CR-X Si...black, baby!!! My first ever "mod" was in this car...an upgraded head unit and speakers. Damn, I loved that car!
