Thank you for your support guys. I am taking video of my car this weekend and will upload.
Sue them for about 50k-100k for damages to the car, court costs, attorney fees/costs, forcing you to drive an unsafe vehicle(putting your life in jeopardy) and for allowing an untrained "technician" work on a car. They are responsible for all of those things.

I'm a little confused about one thing though. When did they install the unit and how did you find out everything was screwed up? Was your car undrivable from Circuit City or what? Also you said you got it installed with 800 miles on the odometer but the mileage on the estimate says 16116.

yeah, I'm not a big supporter of lame lawsuits, but they should pay for this. Whats to stop them from doing this to someone else. Messing with a car's electronics isn't safe. What if they caused an accident? When they hire incompetent workers that do sub-standard work on a car, they put you in jeopardy.

Get damages + something else. It's a punitive damage.

My girlfriend, parents, sister, friends and clients were in a car that Honda determined is unsafe to drive is my main concern. It is good to know the guys at North Shore Honda alerted me. They took the time to show me the wires and how a fire could have started as the heating ducts were removed from the car.

The fact that this could happen to ANYONE is the reason I started this thread. Check the work done inside your car. Understand what is being done and what the modifications require.

The beautiful thing about today's legal systems is that something doesn't have to happen for it to be a easy-to-win lawsuit, it just has to be a "if" type thing. The part I would focus on the most is that they ALLOWED a "technician" that they HIRED work on a car that he probably KNEW he was UNCAPABLE of installing it CORRECTLY.

actually, those 'lawsuits' are the easiest to win. People don't fight cases like this. Its not like they can possibly argue they weren't incompetent and putting people in harm's way. The amount of damage is the only thing they can fight over.

Btw, the insurance guy will show up with a checkbook and give you a lowball. If it sounds like a lot of money at the time, it's a fraction of what they are thinking they might have to pay.

Get a lawyer.

The items were damaged by tools during the install. The center council was removed and the power outlet no longer works. During the install, the tools and parts were placed on top of my car and windshield.

That is all I can say for now.

It is a bad feeling. I put people at risk without even knowing it.

Anyway, save this page. I will have a video posted this weekend. Thank you for your support.

First of all everyone knows not to go to circuit city for installations. I only trust qualified installers like drive in auto sound and ultimate electronics. Why pay $3,100 for a stereo system in the first place is beyond me? you could of bought a turbo or super charger and reflash and it would still be cheaper than how much you paid for an audio system. Sounds like your screwed, and wow only 800 miles on the car? i wouldn't blame Honda for this because it's your fault but hopefully you sue the shit out of circuit city, there is just too much damage and who knows whats going to happen to your car. If that happened to me the people that did that install would be DEAD! wow they really f*cked it up and taping the ducts shut?! WTF. GL man didn't want to sound harsh but i'd be pissed too and this gives me yet another reason to try and do my own audio system installs in the future. Trust nobody.

North Shore Honda, Glen Cove, NY has helped me so far. I am glad to have Chris and his staff answer my calls and take time to explain what was done. They run a great shop and take care of their clients.

I thought Circuit City had it covered. After I found the damage in my car, it was a shock for them to refund and run. I got a call from the Circuit City District Manager today. Again he called to say that I should be in contact with the insurnace agency, it is out of Circuit City's control.

I am a tech at toyota and we just had a car come in today with a major water leak and it a appears that when circuit city was installing the guys sat radio antena they decided to cut through some rubber boots with the wire harness inside of them. Ended up up costing the guy $500 plus labor for a whole new harness
