Here you can see where the electrical damage starts. Instead of using a proper adapter harness, they spliced the stock antenna and harnesses. That is just one area that has to be replaced.

Sorry to see this happened to you. I always ask around to find out who I should go to when I'm looking for someone to work on my cars. Word of mouth is worth a lot.

Yeah, I totally agree with you guys saying not to let Best Buy or CC touch your cars. I got an AVIC-D3 installed in my car back in december and my sound system sounds like complete shit now.

From what I have noticed over the years, Laywers who know their clients will have to pay will milk this out to the breaking point hoping the other party will crack. Whether that be for no compensation and go away frustrated or a lesser sum just so the person can just barley squeek by.

To get this resolved in a timley manner you're probably gonna need to:

1. obtain a copy of the estimated charges to repair the car - broken down piece by peice
2. Send copy of estimate and properly formatted claim letter (including demanding a resonable date of resolution) and copy of all other interactions to insurance company in a manner that requires a signature and you get a receipt
3. If necessary, a lawyer. Many states also alow you to sue for legal fees. If youre case is strong enough you may even be able to find a new college grad who would pick this up pro bono for the experience

I hate companies that do this crap. Best wishes.

Stock audio is the way to go. Save $ for parts IMO.

Sorry to hear about that. I'm too scared to have anyone mess with my electricals in my car. I would never trust the people in CC or BB. Thats why I got the Honda navi and keeping my audio stock. Good luck with all that.

Splicing at stereo shops happens MUCH more often than you'd think - when there is a proper way to splice if you don't have the proper connectors.

The proper way to "hardwire" in an aftermarket radio is to cut factory connectors, leaving plenty of slack and soldering, taping and using heat-shrink the new connections. You'd also want to KEEP the factory connectors so you can reverse it later if you like...

However, using a proper harness is recommended and easiest for everyone...
