leather seats???

i see a few people here and there who got leather seats as a "dealer option", the dealer i'm about to get a civic from says he can't and doesnt know how to put leather seats in the civic since he doesn't know how they would get around the airbags(there's airbags in the seat?) so i was just looking for some input on how you could go around getting leather in the civic and how much would it cost? Is it better to get it at the dealer then taking it somewhere else after i purchase the car to get it?

Anyone who has leather seats in their civic could u post up some pics, prices, and how you got it in there? thanks

Any leather seats in a Civic are aftermarket installed. As for the airbags - there are none in the seats, but there are sensors to detect the size of the individual. This determines whether the airbag is deployed or not in an accident. If you have a small child in the seat, it won't deploy. Getting it at the dealer will cost you more than taking it somewhere else after you purchase the car, cause they will probably just hire that shop/person to do it for them, and add on an extra couple hundred or so for their "time". Try calling around to any local custom auto shops to see if they'll do it.

They're there. Watch the demo and listen to the guy. They're in the seatbacks of the front seats. Open your doors and look on the side of your seat. There's a little plastic piece that says ABS or Airbags or something similar.

Actually there are airbags in the seat. If you open the door and look on the side you'll see a plastic cover. Inside there is the side airbag. Still shouldn't be a problem in making leather seats though, they would just need to have a cutout for the airbag section.
