Thinking about trading in my Si for...

Okay, I must be crazy b/c I just got an 08 Si about 4 months ago. Before that I had an 05 RSX type-s, but it was totalled, so I went with a new Si. I've already done some mods to the Si -i/h/e, but I was browsing ebay and I saw this - s2000

Only one owner, clear carfax, 7yr 100k warranty, honda pre-owned certified. If I did it, I would be paying roughly the same I am now for both car payments and insurance. For some reason the insurance on the s2000 is about the same as civic si ~$500 6/mo premium.

What do you guys think?

Never have liked wings on an S2k... Doesn't seem like a bad price though, and you're already in TX so that's a plus. You should go on S2000 Club of America, Inc. and talk with some owners, lots of them down in TX, my dad used to be the midwest regional director and they're all really cool people.

The wing looks gross. Other than that, I like it!

I looked at S2ks before I bought my Si. I tried my best to like them, but they are just way to damned cramped inside! (I'm not a big guy, either.)

Do it. You only live once, and it's a great car.

i came across a new 07 s2k that i was thinking about trading for but the dealership would have screwed me in a trade in. plus when i checked on iinsurance it was going to increase by about $90 per month.

do it do it do it... for all of us folks in the northern part of the country who can't (or shouldn't) be driving RWD cars year-round. If I could, I'd be in a RWD car right now instead of looking at the Si.

Yeah the strange thing is my insurance premium would only increase by 10 dollars. I'd be lookin at like 90 bucks a month to insure it. In February I'm moving to Tucson, AZ, so I don't think i'll have to worry about snow :). I'm gonna try to go check it out today, even though its a 4 and a half hour drive.

This might give you peace of mind in your S2k decision. There is a thread on here about a guy driving around in his S2k for 4 years at 7500RPM! It lasted 50k miles, too!

Cool

:Update:

Well I decided to take the drive down to dallas yesterday and take a look at the s2000. The test drive was incredible, the handling is amazing and the shifting

So, I took the plunge and bought it, partially thanks to this board's advice. I figure I should get something fun while I'm still young and single. Got a decent 5.9% apr and insurance at $540 for 6mo premium.

p.s. They had a 2008 CR there, pretty sick looking imo.

- Oh I'll probably post pics up in a couple of days, the weather has been really bad around here since yesterday.

Don't forget to buy a hardtop. Just a FYI, it annoyed the shit out of me. Other than that, no back seats, no cargo space and no perfect time to shift it is a great car. I'm looking into getting another one and only in Aug. will tell.
