It's hard to see why Honda would make any changes to their current civic (coupe/sedan) by 09, other then minor head/tail-lights, possibly bumpers. I still see the Civic as more advance then its current competitors. Maybe then, they'll intro. a new EX by 2010-11?

This source says the 2009 Civic will be the Accord/TSX concept: 2009 HONDA CIVIC CONCEPT - AutoSpies Auto News

More information will appear soon. Expect to see the 2009 Civic Concept at NAIAS 2008. And see at showrooms late 2008, as a 2009 model.

Edmunds suggested in March 2007 that the 2009 Civic will be a new model:

You forgot the 96-98 got a face lift and tail light change in 99-00. Plus the addition of the Si coupe.

Not difficult to figure out there will be some type of refresher in 09 for head/tails and even bumper covers from Honda since they've been doing that for some time now. Look at the RSX, S2k, Accords etc etc. I just hope they don't up the motor like they did for the RSX.

Edmund didn't say 2009 will be new model, only that 2009 will be built at that new plant. That autospy concept is supposedly the next TSX, not Civic--they're off about that too.

Civic MMC is every 3 years. The generation change is every 5 years. At most, it'll be bumper, headlight, tailight tweaks, some minor interior changes, and various little fixes.

...well, when we find out what the MMC is, someone pleas PM me...

I hate stupid threads that don't deliver & make me hard for nothing.

When I got my company car I sold my Si (no car payment = so fun)...I'm thinking about applying out again for another promotion but that means I'd lose the co car if I got it. I dont wanna buy an 08 this year until I know what the MMC is going to be.

Please dont post stupid threads about the MMC until it's confirmed, it gets old.

The little side caption on the Edmunds website, which I quoted, suggests that the 2009 model will be a new model. It says "the ninth for Honda in the U.S." As I recall, Civics are currently in the 8th generation. You could take it to mean the ninth plant in the U.S., but that would mean that Honda has a bunch of secret plants they're not telling us about.

Yeah, that Autospy article seems to be way off, but we can always hope they do a switch-a-roo and use the JDM Accord Concept as the new Civic concept.

year 2009 is just a facelift, not changing the whole design. You should know it by now.

My first guess would be just to use the JDM parts. Already got them so it would be the least expensive upgrade. However the coupe is the kicker.
So with the coupe in mind I think Honda in their flawless wisdom will just do a simple tweek and wahla and keep the best in Japan as always.

I want CTR - I want Euro SI. Honda should give us all the choices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is something called a MMC (Mid-model change) only "refreshing" looks.

OMG if one more person posts that stupid Autospies story about a honda civic refresh my heads gonna explode! Autospies posts anything regardless of the credibility of the story. That is an old concept from 2003.
