2009 Civic MMC? pic included
OK so probably not a new topic and this pic may have been posted in here somewhere before, but I saw this and couldn't help but notice the similarities between the lines on the current Civic body and this car. The wheels also look like stock Si rims but more aggressive.
So the talk about the MMC for 2009 - is it going to go in a direction similar to this? That front end is terrible if you ask me, reminds me of a Chrysler Sebring from years back or something like that. So I'll be happy in my '08 Si if they end up turning the car into this. And that fat bubbly-looking hood? By the way this is supposed to be a "CR-Z Hybrid Concept" according to Motor Trend. So I know it isn't the 2009 Civic but this might be the closest thing I've seen to a clue as to what direction Honda is heading with their styling.

I was thinking the Civic in '09 is probably gonna look exactly the same with possibly some different color options or if they do make some changes, Honda usually makes subtle changes like the front and rear bumpers would be slightly different or possibly the headlights.
Look at the '94-'97 Integras vs. '98-'01. The '98-'00 Accord coupe vs. the '01-'02 Coupe. The '04-'05 TSX vs. '06-'08 TSX. They all saw minor changes, and there are many more examples. On another note, I hope cars never look like that! its like the designers are trying to hard to create this out there design. |

NEXT GENERATION ‘GREEN’ CARS CONFIRMED FOR PRODUCTION
Honda has confirmed plans to bring its most exciting ‘green’ cars into production. The FCX hydrogen fuel cell car and a lightweight, hybrid sportscar will both be built – with a production version of the FCX making its debut next month. Speaking today, Honda’s President and CEO, Takeo Fukui, announced plans to unveil a production version of the FCX Concept at the LA Show in November. The car will then go on sale in the US and Japan during 2008. Honda also revealed that a car based on its CR-Z Concept – a compact, lightweight sportscar powered by a hybrid powertrain – would also enter production. This stylish coupe will join Honda’s forthcoming ‘global hybrid’ family car, which is due to launch in 2009. The announcements mark the beginning of the next generation of environmentally-friendlier vehicles, with both cars boasting sleek, sporty designs likely to appeal to a broader audience. “Hybrids have always been seen as niche products, and hybrid car design has mostly been based around practicality and versatility,” says John Kingston, Environment Manager at Honda (UK). “The CR-Z Concept looks stunning, and shows that green cars can be sexy and exciting – but also minimise environmental impact. “The fact that we will be producing cars like this – and the global hybrid – proves that hybrid cars are becoming key volume products within our range. All of this means that Honda will be selling over 1/4 million hybrids a year by 2009.” The CR-Z Concept follows in the tyre prints of the Honda Remix Concept (seen at the LA Show last year), and the Small Hybrid Sports Concept (debuted at Geneva in March) all of which explore the potential of a compact sportscar that’s exciting to drive, but has minimal impact on the environment. The launch timings for a production version of the car are yet to be announced. |

not sure I used the correct acronym in my thread title - by "MMC" I was trying to say minor model change, though the picture of the car I posted would obviously be a major change and a new model.
What I meant to say with all this was maybe they would change the front bumper/grill on the 2009 to look like this. Though on the 7th gen the only thing that got changed for '04 was the lower lip (a nice touch by the way) and headlight/taillight change (also was a good improvement). The front grill though was changed slightly also along with wheels. But engine stayed exactly the same as well as the interior for the most part. Just hoping I don't have a brand new model car for just a year, I saved up a while to get it and I would have gotten one in '06 if I could. But I am happy with the looks of the front end right now. I could go for a different set of taillights though especially leds. |
