TPMS question; old rims

so i wrecked my 07 civic yesterday by having an old women (prob senile) turn infront of me. now since it was completely her fault, her insurance will be getting me a new civic. my question is since all 08 models have TPMS what serious problems will happen from using my old rims? I have a nice set of 18" PIAA wheels with matching valve stems that came with the rims. i work in a tire shop (i do mostly commerical trucks and semi's) but i used to work on the passanger side and i know people would sometimes get us to put in the TPMS sensors from the dealer in aftermarket wheels. since i highly doubt sensors would have the right bend in the to fit in the rim and then have a low pro tire mounted on it without it being destroyed i was thinking i should just put them on and completly ignore the TPMS light?

anyone with aftermarket wheels on a 08 have any insight? thanks

First off, the bad news is that you can't really just ignore the TPMS light because it won't allow you to turn off the VSA with the TPMS light on.

Now the good news... I noticed that you live in Canada. If you're buying a Canadian Civic you don't need to worry about it because CDM Civics don't have TPMS or VSA!!!

I don't think you'll have any serious problems installing your TPMS sensors in the new wheels. I know CollegeHills Honda installed them in the older HFP wheels and all they needed was something to fill the gap between the bottom of the sensor and the wheel. You could use some double sided tape to fill the gap. You just have to make sure that the sensors are not destroyed during removal and installation.

you can still have them in older rims.. but the only thing is they wont be flat against the wall of the rim so you need to pad it with some sort of foam..

That's an American Law, we don't have them yet, I'm gonna try to buy my Si this year before our government decides to follow suit...
