During a clean up and motor teardown back in 1995 I matched the numbers up and low and behold they have an L-88. I had a hard time with this at first since this wasn't really documented anyplace else and I was highly skeptical, I traced the serial numbers and found the build sheet and it all matched up. Since the car was driven very little and garage kept it was and still is in excellent condition. And to this day I have yet to find someone else with an original 427 caprice, let alone an L-88.

Does it have the aluminum, open chambered heads with 2.18 intake and 1.88 exhaust? L-88s' used high compression, rectangular port, open chambered heads along with forged pistons. I have read that once in a while, the motors would slip by and get into cars that weren't supposed to receive them.
