After a major clean-up, I have elected to reopen this thread. Keep the bullcrap out of it, or I will throw people into Mod Q for being rude/disrespectful/argumentative.

Carry on...

something rather interesting that I personally ran across and its not widely known. But the L-88 was thrown in more then just the Camaro's, and Vette's. It was an option on several other cars. My Grandparents purchased a 1969 caprice new off the lot w/427 and the transmission was geared for towing. During a clean up and motor teardown back in 1995 I matched the numbers up and low and behold they have an L-88. I had a hard time with this at first since this wasn't really documented anyplace else and I was highly skeptical, I traced the serial numbers and found the build sheet and it all matched up. Since the car was driven very little and garage kept it was and still is in excellent condition. And to this day I have yet to find someone else with an original 427 caprice, let alone an L-88.

Does it have the aluminum, open chambered heads with 2.18 intake and 1.88 exhaust? L-88s' used high compression, rectangular port, open chambered heads along with forged pistons. I have read that once in a while, the motors would slip by and get into cars that weren't supposed to receive them.
