2008 Lancer Ralliart: 230HP AWD

From Edmunds.com:

Spied: 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
Date posted: 07-27-2007

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Astute spy photographers caught photos of what is believed to be the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, a midlevel model positioned between the base Lancer and the upcoming 300-plus-horsepower Evolution version.

While the former Ralliart model offered little more than a body kit and fancy wheels, this next-gen version is expected to have all-wheel drive and a turbocharged four-cylinder making somewhere in the neighborhood of 220-230 horsepower. With that kind of hardware, the Ralliart will be well positioned to compete with the latest Subaru WRX, a sedan with similar specs but a controversial new design.

In addition to the Lancer's favored styling, the Ralliart will also benefit from Mitsubishi's latest optional technology. Optional equipment will most likely include a 30 GB hard drive, Bluetooth and a Rockford Fosgate audio system.

What this means to you: Not digging the new look of the standard Impreza, but don't have the scratch for an STI? The Lancer Ralliart could be the answer.

Im kinda excited about this car.... if you can get one for around 25k..

I mean think about it... 230 HP, AWD, 4 doors for hoes, you can get good performance and good use out of that car...and it looks better than the subaru IMO... All that's left to know is a good price... and it'll sell!

evo is still coming out. Its the same as the older generations when they had the lancer trims, and a ralliart one.. then the evo.

This will be huge competition for the WRX if they can keep the price at, or under $25k

The new wrx looks much more toned down than the last model, it will appeal to more buyers. They also refined the interior, lessened road noise, and basically made the car more practical. Its a good thing even if many enthusiasts don't think so. I can't wait for both models to come out so I can go test drive them.

If the ralliart is going to have AWD and a detuned Mivec engine that the EVO has,i expect about 220-230HP and a price tag of $23-25,000. Too bad the EVO doesnt still continue to use the 4G63 motor. I wonder how this new MB11 engine will do. Questionable reliablity with Mitsubishi though. I hope mitsu does the CVT and 5 speed or 6 speed that would be awesome!

I doubt the lowest trim evo will be in the 20's. I would place my money that it would be in the 30.5 to 31 range.

the evo RS always was in the 20s because it is basically stripped of everything except the performance aspect of the car. the 2006 evo rs retailed for $28k msrp so i don't see why they introduce the ralliart with a turbo and awd if the rs is close to its pricetag.

Ok take that 28k msrp add the new body, new interior, new AWD S-AWC, upgraded engine, upgraded suspension and you get an MSRP above the 20's.
