Angry Scion Tc beats Civic Si, unfortunately.

Now i know this topic has been beaten to death (Yes, I did a search) but a lot of the people on here and other forums always say something near this when a Civic Si is killed by a modded Tc, "Put i/h/e on the civic too and bye bye Tc " Well...here's the story:

So as I've mentioned in other threads, my buddy owns an 06 Civic Si. He's not very happy with it (transmission issues) but there is no denying it is fast for the price. Anyway he has a friend in L.A. that owns a Scion Tc and we both made fun of him for driving a chick car. Well we sure got slapped in the face when he challenged my friend to a race and left him in the dust not 1 not 2 not 3 but 4 times. What the hell man?! My friend has DC headers, a Greddy EVO2 exhaust, and Injen CAI on his Si. The Tc had an injen intake as well but I'm not sure on the headers and exhaust. Neither of the two have a turbo or a supercharger. My friend has been driving a stick for 9 years so i don't really think its because he sucks at shifting, if anything the Tc guy would since he has only been driving stick for a little over 1 year. The Tc guy is expecting to get a turbo kit soon, and my friend said he won't even try racing him after that . They raced twice from a dead stop and once from a 3rd and 4th gear roll. We were waiting for the to kick in the whole time haha it was kind of funny and sad. We were like oh man her it come!! As we waited for the VTEC symphony of destruction and the kick to come in guns blazing. BAM!! VTEC JUST KICKED IN AND.......The Tc still beats him. So...

What the eff? What say you Si owners? I still want a Civic Si just based on looks, but damn that was discouraging. On top of that the Tc guy had such an evil laugh one of those "Muhaha" every time he won. I might wait for the civic mid-model change to see if they do anything to the transmission. Or around 2010 for the next gen. I'm willing to wait . Keep on ing.

P.S. I'm trying to get my friend with the Si to race him again so i can record it and show you guys. But he refuses for now. Especially when i told him i would record it. I don't blame him.

And hey don't flame me for this. I don't like Scions

Your buddy must suck at driving. You have 40 more horses (unless he's supercharged), has faster gearing, and when running it with your foot on the floor, the transmission isn't much of an issue.

Once mods begin, comparisons can stop.

Are you buying the car to race in a straight line or drive?

Your friend is a terrible driver. 200hp>160hp in this case. Weight wouldnt really make a difference unless your friend weighs like 600lbs and the other driver weighs 100.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this story at all.

If an Si owner loses to a tC in just about any race, they are a probably a very bad driver.

Even with the supercharger, the tC is still, I believe, a little behind the Si, especially if you take it on even the slightest corner.

i can see taking him from a stop from the start due to the higher torque of the TC but he should have definately won, my wife drives a TC and that thing isnt anywhere as quick

Well, honestly I'm not really into racing. I just think the Si is way nicer and a smarter buy seeing as I'm mainly a daily commuter. But I'd like to have fun on the weekends too. My friends are into it though. Being the passenger in a race blows; its scary as hell. Even after this race though, i wouldn't buy a Tc. I guess its just my person preference.

Yeah they should have taken turns, the Si would have pulled on him. But it was just a bad day i think, i mean come on a Scion Tc? I mean it has more torque but its heavier too. I dunno it was just a bad run.

i figured someone would flame. Why would i make this up buddy. I'm on this site because i am a Honda fan and I'm planning to buy a Civic Si, my first car was a Honda. Why would i want to put down a car i like. Just doesn't make sense. Don't flame me, flame the Tc.

And as far as it only being my 10th post, does the size of the number somehow related to what kind of a person you are? And by the way i agree with you, tc is a joke compared to an Si. Thats why i posted this to ask: what gives?

I guess my friend just sucks at driving like everyone is saying. I'll make fun of him monday when i see him .

We've had an influx of trolls for new users lately, forgive people for being question-prone.

I'm sure you mean well.

Let's be honest here. The scion Tc is a little embarrasing. It's got a 2.4L I4 that only puts out 160hp/163tq. That is not impressive at all. To match the Civic Si stock, it needs an SC. I don't doubt there are plenty of very fast, heavily modified Tc's, but stock for stock there is no comparison.

Road and track tested the Tc in the 1/4 at 15.7@88mph.
The Civic Si has been tested anywhere between 14.8-15.3@94.5mph in the 1/4.
6mph in trap speed is an indicator of a big power to weight ratio advantage in the Si's favor.
