When driving fast, I experience no downfalls in the transmission. The slight rev hop and hang makes upshifting quick and keep you in the power band, while the downshifts are easy since the revhop keeps it nicely, again, floating up.

Seriously though. When I'm at work I probably count about 10-15 Tcs driving by and in the parking lots. Out of all of them, one of them will be a guy driving. It does seem like the Tc is a chick car. Also, there's just too many of them.

I have only seen one Si around my work. A Habanero Red coupe.

In your post it said they started from a 3rd-4th gear roll. What MPH did you guys start it at 40mph? 60 mph? Because you said you guys were waiting for vtec to kick it, at a 60 mph roll you guys should already be or near vtec in 3rd gear so there is no wait.

Seriously me and my cousin raced before when we were both stock I have the si while he has the TC, mine pulls away from him right away easy.

Were you in the Si? Did the TC driver have a passanger? Seriously I think from the 3rd or 4th gear roll I think the TC was in second.

When i referred to us waiting for Vtec i meant from the two times we were at a dead stop. Yeah i was in the Si. The Tc had no passenger. My buddies pretty fat and I'm pretty thin heh but maybe hes just too much to lug around. But I've just come to the conclusion he must really suck at driving, i personally am just starting to learn how to drive a stick, so i really don't know enough to judge his driving skills. But i believe you guys because if you look at the numbers, Scion Tc beating a Civic just doesn't add up. It has to be human error.

It's not irritating more than it's really surprising. Again, even with even HP, I'd say that the really aggressive gearing on the Si (compared to the tC anyway) would net it either a tie because of that initial torque or barely win. Tell your Si buddy to stop puttering and hammer it! It also doesn't help if he's in the wrong gear and he has to WAIT for VTEC. Our cars are to be revved high, he shoulda dropped it another gear or two.

You were waiting for VTEC to kick in for how long now? Your friend should have been through 1st gear in a few seconds and then stayed in VTEC the rest of the race if he knows how to drive. "Waiting for VTEC" has never been an issue in any race I have been in because you only have to wait in 1st gear.

Also, as someone stated before, if you guys are going from 3rd or 4th, it makes a big difference how fast you are going. Since its a 6-speed vs 5-speed, if you both start in the same gear, going the same speed, only one of you will be in the power band. I am assuming, the tC driver called the gear and the speed and your buddy went along with it and lost.

Do we really need 'Yet Another' one of these threads? Has this topic not been beaten to absolute death yet?
