The post was kinda geared towards this kinda thing. Kinda like a spontanous (sp?) thing. the thing about being all over he hiway i've seen that too. i think is insane, i mean its one thing to be weaving, but its another to do it scaring the **** out of people.

The thing with me is that i get in a lot of long D driving (1 hr +) so i want to get to where i am goin fast with out getting a ticket. so what ends up happening is i follow the fastest car, which usally leads to him trying to out run me.....

what do you all think of that sort of situation.

guess i am trying to hack at whats acceptable and whats not.

last time i drove home from school i did a little experiment. Instead of driving 85 the whole way down, i set the cruise control for 5 over the limit. I made it home in the same time as when i sped. it was a much easier drive since every time i saw a cop i didnt have to panic and slow down since i wasnt doing a significant ammount over the limit. After that ive lost all interest in speeding/racing cause all i am risking is a ticket and no real gains. I take my car to the autocross to get the thrills of driving hard.

^I've lost my interest in speeding as well. Instead of speeding, I leave for work five minutes earlier, and cruise around. Less risk of me denting my rims in a pot hole, less chance of some ricer taking my actions as a challenge, and it gives me more time to react/brake when there are objects ahead of me. One thing I've noticed is that you NEVER see an expensive car zooming around like it's got a bomb attached to the chasis. When you see someone speeding, it's usually an 1989 accord with altezzas, pumping out rap music on his no name blown out subs.

Come on guy... what is your speed limit 75? that is the only way you'll get home at the same time as if you were going 85.... Come on, we all remember the math problems from elementary.... if bill and mandy both go from point a to b, who gets there faster if bill goes 85mph and mandy does 60??

Anyways... its true that taking it to the track is the best way to do it, but not many places have a track next to a local hangout. I agree that street racing is dangerous, and that you shouldnt put innocent people in danger. But there are "safe" places to run it where there is noone.

My old car was a 95 accord, fat, underpowered and slow so getting to high speeds quickly isnt something im used to. when your doin 85 or more you can get stuck behind people, and have to slow down for cops, so you arent doing a constant 85 the average comes out to closer to 70.

It helps that my school has an autocross club that takes over a parking lot every couple of weeks and sets up a course so thats covers most of my need for adrenaline rush. and theres a local drag strip a brief drive away from campus.

Few things about this thread

(i am not picking on you or anything but what about drag racing? back in the days i thought drag racing was stupid, straight line wtf right? But drags do require quite some skill, in a standrad transmission that is...

I dunno much about the tracks and i am sure some people reading this might also have limited knowledge about it. but from what i hear tracks can be pretty expensive in regards to maintainance and fees. i also hear that tracks have jackasses too, those that pick on newbs just for the hell of it, that could be very discouraging to people who want to go to tracks. it would be nice for someone to enlighten use about what the tracks are like (espcially the financial part)

for me i'd have to say i pick up the pace on the highway (espcially when i am dozing off, just seems to keep me awake) but i've never been crazy about it, crazy speed maybe . . .

I think i agree to this 100%
sometimes you just have that urge and if its all clear then knock yourself out.
I agree .
Sometimes when it's all clear in front of you , it's great to cut loose
and wind it out .
BTW , rowing through the gears from 0 to 100 in a straight line is
Great Fun !

i am just glad there are people out there that have this point of view.

I guess i posted this thread cause of the news i heard about two kids taking their parents BMW and Benz out for a race, ended up killing a cabbie who lives right near me. The thing is that they did it in such a dense part of the city. goin 120 with buildings next to you maybe an exciting, but its definately not safe and its stupid (stupid would still be an understatment)

I love gunning it right off the on ramps especially at night near my area in Toronto. next to no cops, very little people too. I guess for some there really are no open spaces cause the city is so tight. but in toronto, travel like 10 mins north and you get some pretty wide open roads (i am not talking downtown toronto) there are places to do it and then there are places where you're just asking to die.

thats my 2 cents

Im with you on this one. With my old car (92 civic hatch) i would just fly around offramps off the highway when there was no-one around. Why.. because well i knew how the car would handle and the suspension was low + stiff.

If its late and theres noone on the highway, i will giv'er **** just because.

Street racing on the other hand- im very against. I dont do it because well... im 18, i need my car for school/work and i cant afford to have it impounded/have my lisence gone.

speeding- nah.. to risk a ticket only to get somewhere 5 minutes earlier doesent really appeal to me.

The track is the way to go. But in my case, Touge is the way to go. Nothing else is more of a rush then Touge. That is where true driving skills are shown. In the 1st ever American Touge, an EG I believe took second best time over some heavily built cars. (I forgot what they were, but will look into it again and will make a list of the cars) The reason being is that the car was BETTER built (suspension and etc.) and also the driver was better at handling the corners with CONSISTANT higher speeds than the others.

"off-topic"
To me, I'm not all about boosting and blah blah blah. Power isn't everything if you got sucky handling. And having the car not balanced correctly or not having the car respond to the upgrades, power, mods, etc. I hate draggin with a passion. Drag racing proves nothing. Anybody can drive/buy an expensive car and win a drag. Therefore, I'm in favor of course racing... Touge > Drag

I have a 3rd Grade writing ability... LOL

And oohhh yeah. Take it to the trax. And uhhh.. Eat your veggitabuls!

I am pretty sure touge is mountainous roads..... tight sloped mountainous public roads. and wouldn't that fall under street racing?

i dunno what touge is in the states (smae def?) but i am like 90% sure that touge is a def used in japan.

and Toronto ppl help out, WHERE THE HELL DO YOU FIND TOUGE IN THE GTA?
(or near "civilized" ontario)

Well, it's the style that I am talking about. And here, I think it's called American Touge. But still my point is, Touge on a course. I'm all about course driving. I know what and where Touge mean/is. Just saying.

I'm sorry. I'm just typing to fast that my brain can't keep up. Touge here, Touge there. It's all the same. It's just here, we don't have mountainous land. So in place of mountains, we try to utlize the courses. Does that help? It was kinda late when I had that post up... Sorry.
