2008 Subaru Wrx=disapointment?

so i have always been a fan of Subaru, well at least since 2002. and loved the WRX/STI, until recently, i just picked up my motor trend for this month. And i was really disappointed at the new 2008 WRX styling, it is really just.. kinda boring, and power wise, its practically running the same engine. the new MS3 has more power than it. alot of cars in its class have more power. Subaru was talking about trying to appeal to a more mature audience....then there was always the spy shoots of the new WRX/STI, which was also a let down. my question is does Subaru know what they are doing anymore? WTH is going on. I guess i am just sad now......

I like the new styling. It's not too extreme. I'm not too familiar with the current engines they say they'll be providing, but I'm happy they're not going HP happy. A Subie was always about easy to drive 4WD, not power. The STi, maybe, but their "regular" cars, no.

Everybody appears to be going into that bleeding edge design now, which is probably why the new STi looks like its on 'roids and viagra.

In the styling dept the Evo X destroys the WRX. WRX has always been ugly, but ugly in a unique way. Now it's ugly in a Toyota Corolla sort of way. Just for that I cannot stomach a WRX.

Production Evo on the road:

The ONLY thing I don't like on the new Evo is the fact that they looked like they just flipped an Audi grille upside down. It looks good, but oddly unoriginal....well, that's just me though...

I agree, the new one looks ugly. However, Subaru made an improvement to the impreza engine and the hp is expected to be around 320 bhp @ 6000 rpm and the torque around 320 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm

the looks of the new wrx may be bland, but it will appeal to a larger audience. Not everyone that wants a fast car, wants the car to look like a tuner. They also said they refined the interior a bit, i want to see how the sales are.

To all of you people bashing on the new Rex just wait until aftermarket parts come out for it,there is already an optional SPT Mesh grille for it. There will be some rallye type body kits for it and other stuff im sure too. There will be an Impreza WRX STI Hatchback. I really hope there will be a Sedan STI also! Subaru should also bring the Legacy 2.5 GT STI/Blitzen OVER!!! I WANT IT!

Fail. It's running the Legacy Gt motor with a TD04 turbo.
