IDK what to think about the new sti's. I mean, you see them in pictures and they look so ugly that you want to throw up.. but then you see the vid of the sti being tested at nurburgring(sp) and it actually looks nice. I think it's just going to be one of those things.. like that girl that you dated that looked good in person but when you show your buddies pics of her they all just laugh at you.

anyway.. tell that to the guy driving a civic that ended up stuck in a tree 20 feet above ground on the side of the interstate a few years ago where i live.. i dunno how fast he was going but apparently it was fast enough to where he didn't have enough down force and up, up and away he went!!

obviously his car was heavily modded and he gutted the thing.. but the fact remains that FWD cars can be made to go fast enough where wings are useful

So no one cares that the GE/GH WRX has no rear LSD? All you care about is styling? Honestly, I thought all Subarus were ugly as sin (minus the GC)... it is the performance that they pack in these cars that I fell in love with. Now that they are going "mainstream" and removing (on the WRX at least) important things like a REAR LSD, I'm no longer a Subaru fan. Subarus have always been understeering monsters, now without an LSD they will rival FWD cars.

The new Impreza chassis is based off a shortened Subaru Legacy platform. Toyomoco owns only 8.4% of Fuji Heavy Ind. (makers of Subaru). I suggest you do a little research on Subaru's boxer powertrain, to adapt a Corolla platform to accommodate Subaru powertrain would not be a "drop in" procedure. It is nearly ridiculous to speculate such a move.

You seem to be one of the people I'm referring to, worrying about aesthetics over all else... you mention the "design" of the GC8 as being it's saving grace. And again in reference to your comment that the STI is killed and turn into a "fugly" hatchback. (Although it has proved to be a step in the right direction in the WRC rally of Acropolis)

I don't get where you're going with the Saturn Astra statement, the Opel/Saturn/Vauxhall/Holden Astra and Chevy Vectra have sold quite well in the world market...

I just don't get it, you have so much to say about Subaru but so little facts.

yea.. boxer engines are wide. there would be fitment issues if they tried to just drop it into a corolla

I really do not buy that. They killed the Sedan STI and now they suposedly have a 3 door coming soon. Hatchbacks suck nuts compared to wagons. If Subaru was smart they'd redesign the WRX and scrap the STI hatch and replace it with a Sedan and Wagon or a Sedan or Coupe. Obviously Subaru doesn't give a shit about the tuners as they already abandoned them. I mean look at the astra hatchback the door is so small you really cant put anything in there compared to wagons with taller wider openings.

tuners are never really the main priority to begin with

Looks have absolutely nothing to do with performance...

I am a member of Nasioc, EVERYTIMEsubaru put out a new impreza, it was followed by an uproar. Then after the introduction, people start loving the cars again.

Again, I implore you to do a bit of research on Subaru's powertrain. It is currently the only automobile producer to employ a front engine boxer powertrain. Therefore it is easy to understand that a 5 speed auto would have to be developed in house, where as a 5 speed auto for a transverse inline 4 is nearly mainstream and widely available.

You don't buy that? You must not follow rally, you know... where Subaru gets it's ENTIRE enthusiast base? If you watch a single interview w/ petter solberg, you would know how displeased he is with the sedan configuration.

This just means YOU don't like the car. After seeing it in person, I actually MUCH prefer this to the EVO X.
