Honda Insight Marathon 2,254.4 miles on one tank of gas!

2,254.4 miles on 13.72 gallons = 164.315 mpg.
I'm not even sure what to say about this. I've never heard about this marathon until now. I'm just floored.
Take a look at their world record below.

hypermiling

Quote:
The Insight Marathon’s final result was accomplished using mostly advanced hypermiling techniques and taking them to a level not feasible in a standard high speed commute
the types of hypermiling they used - down at the bottom

Simply amazing. I'd be happy with even 1/4 of the mpg!

in terms of real life situation....that is just useless in my opinion. They got nowhere. Car is suppose to take you takes so that is just useless. Although that is cool to just see what it is capable to doing.
