Post Gas: Quality or Cost

Just wondering if anyone actually looks at quality of the gas over the cost of it. I mean ive always been taught to look for the lowest priced gas and thinking its all the same around, but i've heard from time to time that quality of gas is important and such. So coming from the 8th whats the opinion on quality and cost of good ol' petroleum gasoline.

never go cheap on gas. As long as you stay away from arco and bp you'll be good

if you look at the yellow label at the gas pump, it says, R+M/2 method. this means the average between Reasearch and Motor Octane Number. the Reasearch number is at low engine operation and the Motor number is at high engine operation and temperature.

its not really fair to split them 50/50 and make the Octane number, when the Motor number is more critical. some cheaper stations have gas which gives a higher Research than average, and the R+M/2 makes it seem as if the MON is better than it is.

i always use Mobil or Shell, and 76 is good too. even without any performance increase, or knocking, i find the gas mileage to be worth the extra $1 or 2 per tank.

Chevron then Shell or 76. Its maybe 20 cents more than the supper crappy stuff so if you put ten gallons in thats only 2 bucks more for peace of mind. Even if you fill up every week thats only 104 dollars a year difference. You engine and ecu will thank you for it.

I drive an EX coupe, that I know I'm getting rid of next year when I graduate college, I'm putting whatever is closest to me when I need gas. I never look for the "chepest" around because it all only differs a few pennies anyways, so it's not worth my time.
