Oil sample results (3rd sample)
For those that have seen my previous posts regarding taking oil sample and following the maintenance minder here is my 3rd installment. This oil run had a total 6,467 miles and I ran it down to 5% or less. Unfortunately I didn’t record the total percent on this run. According to the technician there was better wear on this run. As you can see from the sampling all traces were down but as you can see there was a bit more miles on this run. The TBN was low, much lower at 1.8. The previous samples with about 5500 miles was a 3.3 and the first sample with about 2k total miles was still high at 5.3. Next run I’ll try to keep similar miles and we’ll see what the TBN # is roughly the same. All in all I think the maintenance minder is pretty dead on.
Just a note on the type of driving I do. My daily work commute is about 20miles round trip with about half of that highway miles. One thing I will note is I usually drive it hard from light to light with daily redline shifts. Also attached are my previous samples. Christopher |

No dealer, these were sent to Blackstone Labs. You can find info on getting sample containers and cost on their website. Below is a link to their site and how to read the report. http://www.blackstone-labs.com/gasol...port_expl.html Christopher |
