Got in an accident today...

Today, me and my friends went to San Mateo to have a go away thing for my friend whos going to the Navy. We took 3 cars, mines, friend's Integra, and my friend's 98 Civic. We were on the freeway and I saw traffic up ahead. I slowed down and made a stop behind the car infront of me. Then I look into my rear view mirror and I see my friend in the integra coming up pretty fast. I was like "hey, he better stop, omg please stop". Then I hear his tires screech and BLAM! Right into me. I guess my friend in the Civic wasn't paying much attention like the Integra and didnt brake in time. He hits the Integra, then the Integra hits me again. To my suprise though, my car isnt damaged much at all. The bumber isnt lined up all too well with the taillights on the passenger side theres a small gap between the tail light and the trunk, and theres some scratches on my HFP lip. The Integra got it the worst, his front end is alittle smashed in, the rear bumper got hit pretty bad. We took off the bumper and found that the rear bumper support got smahed into the frame. The Civic's front is alittle messed up, passenger side fender, where it touches the headlight, is bent, and the passenger headlight broke off its brackets. Tomorrow im gonna take off my rear bumber and try to line everything back up. I hope my frame isnt bent or anything. If it is, I dont know what to do. I cant make my friend pay for anything, his car is already bad enough and his parents dont work so he barely has money. Im just praying that my Precious is ok. Right now, im just happy everyone that went on this trip is ok. Im glad they all listen to me when i say wearing your seatbelt is important. If they havent listened to me, I think there would've been bad injuries. Ill post pictures tomorrow.

One good thing happened today though. I ate some great tasting sushi!! Haha.

Glad to hear everyone is ok... It also happened to me.. It was on Christmas Day when I had my 01 EX... I hit a patch of ice but was able to stop right before the car in front of me then I got slammed in the rear by a Mercedes... And the driver of the Mercedes tried to tell me that my car was fine and tried to leave..I got pissed they messed up my rear bumper... and they had the nerve to try to tell me that my insurance will handle it...I looked at them odd and laughed..I don't think they liked that but they got the point..

Glad everyone is ok, but are you joking? Does he not have insurance?? You need to take it to get it checked out and he needs to be paying if it isnt...

you cant really tell the amount of damage untill a teardown. try looking in the spare tire well if you can see anything.

I was completely stopped when it happened. My friend hit me probably around 20 mph. I really dont want to make him go through insurance because I dont want his rates to go up.

I just checked out my bumper and theres no way I can line the bumper back up. The passenger taillight is still alittle out. The gap in the trunk is still there. I think I might need a new bumper. Im gonna take off my brother's rear bumper and put it on mines. Maybe that'll tell me if I need a new one or not.

reinstall the rear bumper, and get a new hfp rear lip. then you are all set.

seriously dude. take it to a body shop. these cars are designed so that in a small crash there isnt frame damage.

your really only seeing the bumber 'cover' the real bumper is underneath, and you'll need to do a teardown to see the damage. and even then, its can be hard to spot.

you dont want to risk driving around with a broken bumper, and then get rear ended again and risk frame damage, or even worse, severe whiplash.

Yea I already did. The actual bumper is fine and everything is intact. I reinstalled everything and its still alittle off.
