AEM Cold Air pictures?

Hey all, I am pretty new here and hope I am in the right forum for this post. My Silver Si will be here at the end of the month and was just wondering if anybody has the AEM Cold Air Intake? What do you think of it, worth the money? But mainly do you have pictures of it installed in the car? Please post if so. Thanks all.
-Bryan

the only pic of an intake system I have seen around here is a Fujita CAI for R18.

it's worth it for the sound alone. deeper sound than stock, u can hear the intake pull the wind if the air is dense enuff outside, and a good start if u going to add future mods cuz ur engine is already breathing easier. if u going to supercharge etc. don't bother. u can't feel the power difference unless its a lil nippy outside. i live in south florida on hot days' it's soso....like now it's 52 outside u can feel it. i installed it myself...never installed a part on any car before...took me a lil over 2 hrs. don't bother with the color cuz u won't see it. won't have to remove the bumper...can remove the tire but don't have to. instructions are good enuff.

the red head i did just recently. Bought a new head from the dealer and sprayed it myself. i still have the stock head if anyone want's it.

 that would be called a "valve cover" not a head

also, by just spray painting your valve cover your going to be very disappointed in a few months, for its all going to chip and peel off, look into some Powdercoating

uhhhhhhhhm NO...it's called the CYLINDER HEAD COVER...that i know...hence the reason for me calling it a red head.
people on these forums are always so quick to correct others with wrong information. anyway go check it yourself part number 12310-RAA-A00. give it a look up.

I think his point is that in automotive jargon, "head" means something that this cylinder head cover is very much not, i.e., the actual top part of the engine containing the top portion of the cylinder, etc.

Hm, I should point out I don't say that as an expert, but I'm relying on both the "cover" part of its name and R/T's comment to assume that we're simply misunderstanding the general use of the term "head." My ability to actually IDENTIFY a "head" is pretty much limited to the Yamaha KT100s :P

Leave the guy alone. You say tomato, he says head. The point is that it looks pretty god damn cool right now. Did you use high tempurature paint?

Where in South Florida are you from. Me and a couple of other kids from south florida with the new SI are gonna meet up hopefully by next week. I live in Boca Raton and somebody else is from Port St. Lucie. Hit me up, my email address is snowboarder8985@aol.com. And about the intake, does anybody know the specs on the AEM CAI for the si. I'm trying to get one but can't find specs anywhere.

I was wondering where you guys get the intake from? Store? Online?
I live up north.. aka.. Canada and don't think i want to go with the CAI due to wetness and all but I'd like a short ram if they make one. Does any one have any info that they could pass my way?
I had one on my old '91 integra and I know what you mean by "it's worth it for the sound alone"!
Thanks guys!

um...why didn't you just pick up a Type-R valve cover? It's red and powdercoated and would've saved you having to respray the valve cover in the future. That paint's gonna chip in a few months. I looks great though. I'm loving the smooth look of it. You didn't wet sand it did you?

no wet sanding. and i didn't get the JDM cuz i didn't like the flat look and i was told there are minor fitment issues and i didn't want to have to modify anything. i doubt it will chip in a couple months cuz i've done it before. the whole thing about paint chipping and blah blah blah depends on soo many different things...like the quality of the paint job, the quality of the paint, the amount of coats, dry time and so on. if done right it will last...it has lasted before...3 yrs to be exact and it lookes like it did from day one. besides i don't want to just slap on parts...i would at least want to have a hand in it.

How much work was involved in removing the valve cover? It looks as though you have to remove the plastic area by the wipers. I wanted to try something similar with my Si but it looked like a lot of work.
