DETROIT – Honda Motor Co., in a further effort to bring back young buyers into its Honda brand, is expected to unveil a sporty, performance version of the redesigned Honda Civic sedan at the Chicago auto show Wednesday.

Individuals familiar with the move said the four-door Civic Si will expand Honda's sport-compact car offerings beyond the two-door Civic Si coupe which the Tokyo-based auto maker began selling in the U.S. in December last year.

The individuals said the new Civic Si sedan won't hit dealer showrooms until near the end of the year, but when it does, it is expected to help win back young consumers whom Honda lost during the past decade when it sacrificed the Civic's styling and performance in exchange for more comfort and safety.

The Civic Si sedan, the individuals said, is expected to come equipped with an engine powerful enough to produce 197 horsepower. They said Honda has marketed performance versions of Civic hatchbacks and coupes in the past, but this is the first-ever four-door sedan Si.

The individuals said the car, with more room in its back seat compared with that of the Civic Si coupe, is intended to cater to practical needs of today's young buyers who they said look for not only performance but utility in sport-compact vehicles.

It wasn't clear how many Civic Si sedans Honda is planning to sell a year. The company has said it aims to sell a total of 15,000 Civic Si coupes this year.

I like to leave it a little mysterious. The question is will it have the CSX headlights, which would be cool.

Which would tick me off, cuz that means I bought my car too early. Oh well. I love mine, so no complaints. There's always something better. Can't wait til tomorrow.

In all honesty, I hope not. Just swap the front ends for the Si's front end and call it a day.

Well since I reported the news and this thread isn't a flame fest, continue a nice discussion here. If it comes out like that with the fender flares, I'll take it!

I pray to God that lightning strikes down the Honda production facility before any of these make it out.

So...it's basically an civic with an SI badge, the k20z3, a body kit, drilled disc brakes, HFP rims and a spoiler that doesn't fit with the lines of the car that well...I hate to say it but to me it says "ricer with a family." No offense to anyone.

I'm guessing that means the k20z3 will fit the civic body.

I like the idea of a 4-door Civic Si

... to complement my 98 M Roadster. Im new to the Honda community, so I'm learning and absorbing the tons of info on the net. Kinda like going through my mid-life crisis a second time. My sons are pretty much grown up-- empty nester soon. I also have an 05 Evo but it's too firm a ride for a daily driver (to me at least--getting old). I'm selling that to my oldest son.

My fiancee will buy the E90M3 for herself but that's not out for another 2 yrs or so. I was looking at the RSX but I want an RSX with 4 doors. LOL

In the mean time, the concept Civic Si seems to be the perfect answer.

Anyway, Honda's revelation of a four-door Si is very timely for my circumstances. How's the ride on the Civic Si coupe? Think it may jar my future dentures loose?

TIA

I'm pretty sure those aren't LED tails. I think they look an aweful lot like the stock tails on my sedan. It's just the way the reflectors work. I could be wrong.

The Si Coupe's ride is pretty firm. Nothing that will send you running for the Preperation H, but still firm. But you always feel like you are in control of the car. Just be wary of potholes, they hit hard. Trust me, I live in NYC. I have to slalom throught the potholes here, LOL.

That's all the concept coupe Si was as well, so what's the big deal? Anyways, this is more authenitc/JDDM than the coupe...plus I don't see any real difference in performance pieces between the sedan and the coupe except for the slight weight increase of the sedan (but hey, that's what happends when you have two extra doors). I personally went to go get an Si coupe, but I didn't like the coupe in person as it looked way to stubby. The Si sedan is perfect, I get my fun commuter car that people can get in and out of and that I can put stuff in. Obviously it won't have a fake CF hood and Brembo brakes, but I hope it has the fender flares like the JDM Civic Dominator, I'll remove the wing as well.
