Thinking about trading in my SI
I'm thinking about trading in the SI for a BMW 335I Coupe, kinda missing rwd.
Any thoughts? I know I'm going to lose alot of money because according trade in value for my car is like 18k w/ navi and 14k miles and I owe 22k. Although value of car does not include factory aero kit, clear bra, and such but I guess those don't really matter? In any case I want to lease the BMW, does anyone know how that works with still owing money on a car, I don't really want to pay off the remaining loan, just bought a home ';..;' |

Dont take any offense to this but it seems like you are the kind of guy who will be owing for quite a while. So many people are just fine always making payments and never actually owning anything.
I see you are 22, you bought a house, new 8th si and now you want a 335i to lease. Although a little different than I have/would approach these things I can still shoot out my opinion FWIW. The lease thing is a bad idea... You lose more leasing a car than you would buying it, making payments and then reselling when the value is still up there. Example of this is on a japanese car brand and some german brands (mostly BMW's as Mercedes and Audi don't hold as much value as BMW's) that you give back after two years of leasing when you could be selling them. My thought is that if you really just miss RWD, then get something that you can BUY. Leasing your BMW will probably bump your payments up beyond that of what you are paying for your civic. Especially since you - Im assuming - own a 06' FG2 w/ NAVI and after a year you still owe 22k. Not that thats horrible since most people pay interest only for at least a year before the principle really gets touched. But most lease signings involve high payments, big deposits and all that jazz which it seems like you don't have. I can think of at least 25 awesome cheap RWD cars to own that can be owned for aywhere from $2k-$12k. Imagine what your payment would be on this type of thing plus your civic vs. a brand new BMW? Same? Less? Think about it! |

My first thought would be why is such an upgrade needed? Many RWD cars out there, but why do you want a BMW? They are great cars, but going from a civic to a BMW + the addition of a new home =$$$$. Now you say you want to lease the BMW will make your monthly payment less than buying the new car but still......I would weigh everything in you mind and think everything thru, but best of luck to you.

It all depends on how much you make, how much mortgage is, but if you're thinking of leasing cus' you can't afford to buy the 335 new then it's definitely a bad idea. Don't spend on what you can't afford. The thing is, what's the rush in owning a RWD car? You're 22. Wait 10 years, and by then BMW will release yet another bunch of "zomg I gotta buy" 3 series. Just focus on paying off what you have now. It sounds like you're making impulse decisions, given that you're so quickly selling a car you just bought. Who knows, maybe after a year you'll get sick of the 335i. |

I just got back from the dealership and there is no 335i coupes available until September, I won't settle for a sedan.
I'm not leasing because I can't afford to buy, I lease because I have a bad habit of getting sick of cars quick, I rather just drive a new car every 3 years or so. Mortgage payments are not too bad I have rental income as well. |

IMO the deal doesn't feel quite right (excessively expensive) and you are looking for validation. If you seek it, you will find it. peace.

One question you should ask before leasing is how many miles do you drive a year, if you do 15K plus a year then a lease is a very bad idea. you should also wait for next year the 335 coupe is new and dealers mark them up like crazy, Leases are great for getting 40K and over cars, no big down payment and you pay for what you use but if you drive alot, more than likely you will end up getting screwed at the end by paying for mile overage at like 12 cents a mile.
Be carefull. Plus factor in the price of Gas the 335 is a bit thirsty and you will have to factor in another 250 300 a month on top of lease payments on gas to drive that powerfull BMW around at 65mph just ginving my 2 cents in Good luck

Most of you who seem to hate on leasing, Lasing is great when you have loads of money and you want to buy those 50K plus Automobiles.
Think about it to get a 50k plus car and still have a 580 to 800 a month payment would require like 25 to 30K our of pocket. so why not earn 12 to 15% on that 25K to 30K in some good investment instead of dumping it into a stupid Car, Now leasing is a completly stupid idea when you want to lease a 20k car that is where the leasing companies realy make out on Fools with big dreams and small pockets. Most Doctors, Bankers & Lawyers lease they 100k MB and BM's and write a protion of the lease off on their taxes. Then leasing is good. |

I sell BMW's and drive an Si. 335 coupes are great, but cost $50,000...much more then your Honda. I have a black coupe on the floor right now, but anything not on my lot will be here on an as-order basis.
It's your decision to whether to buy or lease...or wait. |

Maybe your dealership can send that black coupe over to MA because today I had no luck finding a 335i coupe... they are on backorder until september =(... I like the IS250 manual but man 204 is weak for a 6 cylinder now a days. Plus no navi option in the IS250 manual what is lexus thinking...
