03 RSX Type S or 07 Civic LX/EX??

I have been looking for a new daily driver and had almost decided that the new Civic (LX or EX) was the car to go with. In looking at the dealerships today I saw an 03 Acura Type S that is also a manual trans (which is what I would want in the new Civic). I am new to the Honda/Acura cars and would like to know a little more about the things in these cars that are the same and what is different in these 2 cars?? Is the RSX that same motor and trans??

P.S. I read the other thread reguarding the base RSX and didn't want to hijack it. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

It depends on the condition of the Acura, but I personally would go with the Acura for a daily driver.

Well the RSX-S is pretty much the same car as the Si (speed wise, not drive-train) and even the normal RSX would be faster than the LX/EX

RSX 160 hp
RSX-s 205? hp

LX/EX 140 hp
Si 197 hp

205 hp > 140 hp but you only get 23/30ish? in the RSX-s vs 30/40 in the EX/LX in MPG

+ the RSX has automatic climate control and probably leather and hatch backs are nice

Big diff in power, get the RSX-S

I'm sure someone will hop in w/ the info on the engines cause i dont know squat about RSX's

03 RSX? hmmm getting kinda old, that's 4 years + of abuse, especially on a sporty vehicle. I would not buy a sports/sporty vehicle from a dealership. you don't know the history. I'd go with the new Civic.

I would go with the RSX-S which has pretty much the same specs as the Si. 200 2.0L 8000rpm 6spd manual. I couldn't drive a regular civic because they are just toooooo boring. The RSX-S has a lot of room to grow on top of the already fun to drive stock settings. Muntant cheese is right about the RSX-S getting old but then again its a honda and 100,000 miles is mid life.

If the type-s is in good condition, witch you can find one, go for that. If you are going to go with civic ex, witch will run you about 18,000 why not just go for an 05+type-s? They are going for about 18,000 also. I really like the 05+RSX, it was my second choice to my Si.

if price is the same, I woudl much rather get the brand new car with a warranty. There is no telling the history of the car until something goes wrong.

If you decide to go with the LX, let me know. I have an 06 with 13,000 miles for sale.

rsx-s > civic lx/ex I also think the 05-06 rsx are some of the nicest looking cars around!

I used to want the RSX-S, but now that the new Si's are out, I find that the RSX body style looks dated. It's just not as cutting edge as it used to be, IMHO. Leather, I mean that's basically all you get over the Si, really.

If the RSX-S is in good condition, then that's the choice I'd go for.

The RSX Type S is maroon with grey leather (which I prefer cloth) and appears to be in very good condition. And it has 44k miles. The asking price is 15k. The new Civic I have been looking at is stickered at $17,355. From what most say the Civic could be had for about $16500 plus TT&L. As much as I would like the 6 speed and the little extra hp, I think the new Civic might be my best bet. I am not looking for a hot rod. I have my old muscle cars for that.

Now I just need to make up my mind and get it done. Easier said than done.
