Next Gen Ford Focus RS

Ford Focus RS could get 350-hp EcoBoost, E-diff

For those too lazy to read it all, it's unclear whether or not the car will be sold in the US and it's rumored that this will be the same engine going into the base level next gen Mustang.

1) It doesn't work. Any car with torque will simply overpower the brakes.
2) Using the brakes to control wheelspin is counter productive and slow. Anytime the brakes activate, it WILL slow the car or reduce acceleration to some degree. If you had a Focus RS /w E-diff and a Focus RS /w Mechanical Diff, the one with a mechanical diff would out accelerate it in every situation.

VW is a great example of the failure of E-diffs. They put them on the GTI, and when you get on the gas on corner exit, the inside wheel just spins to the moon. E-diffs do not work on anything with torque.

But doesnt every FWD car with anything over 160ft lbs of torque suck.
I mean, at least they are trying to add something to help, torque vectoring was something new to the current focus.
Gm has a special knuckle design for their front end to help torque steer.

Lol, no. But anything with 300+ft-lbs and an open diff sucks, it sucks real bad.

Why dont they just bring back a rwd escort? It would be the perfect time with the new scion/subaru hype.

F*CK. FOURTY - THOUSAND - DOLLARS? I'll wait and get a Taurus SHO for a bit more.

I know the US Dollar is worth sh*t right about now, but that is a LOT for a car...

No mention of it getting any E85 lovin either, that'd be quite nice in a turbo car.

isn't the evo MR with transport like 39k??

Why is it so shocking that the focus RS would be 40k...

The Evo is really just a lancer all beefed up. Same thing wit the focus, yet people buy them and drool over them.

But the Evo has THREE limited slip differentials.

Ford isn't even giving you ONE for $40k.

Only the evo x started to hit around the 40k price point and that's the top shelf model. Not to mention most of them sold are the barebones gsr models.

Keep in mind that 40k figure is coming from European prices for cars. Cars in europe are always more expensive. To put it in perspect. Expect to cost similar to an sti/evo base model so like 32k or something US.

+1, a Civic Si is 30k if you convert from british pounds to US dollars
