I like them both, but choose to own an SI.

But yeah, I was eyeing the 5.0 earlier. The GT500 is just pretty much complete stock. All I would change are the wheels and some basic bolt ons. The next project car will be a RWD V8 for sure.

If you live near the coast and/or do a lot of recreational activities, theres no question, people know about subaru.
But if you dont need to go to the mountain every winter, and live in a mostly dry environment, then go for the civic.
Remember, the impreza wasn't made to be a fast car, it was made for people who wanted a small car that had more ground clearance and awd to get to off the road areas.

Hate to bring this thread up from the semi-dead, but I just wanted to chime in and say that I've been thinking about jumping ship from Honda and going to Subaru, so i went to the dealership today to check out the WRX. The moment I sat inside, I already wanted to hop right back out. The dash, door panels, seats, etc. all felt incredibly cheap. Even below invoice, the car was still near $30k OTD, which is, IMO, way too much for that car.

You gotta pay the price for performance. Subaru put the money toward performance and not the interior. Look at the Evo! The car has even worse interior but it sells! It performs! So if you can look past it's interior than its a good car for the money

If you would have driven it, you would have realized how much road noise there is too. Sound deadening was not a priority either. And rightfully so, that's extra weight

sorry everyone, I still love my W. But I admit that the Focus & Fiesta ST sound fun. I'll drive them in the spring

mmm. I've owned two Evos (an 8 and a 9), and I must say that the Evo's interior, although crappy, is still much better than the WRX's. And I paid about the same for my Evo IX brand new as the asking price of the WRX (which was already below invoice.) The WRX also didn't feel very fast, and with open diffs front and back, I'm just not seeing where the money you're talking about is even going, because it's certainly not performance, interior, or exterior. Where could all that money possibly be going? At least with the Evo, I knew where the money was going. It was going into the recaros, the brembos, the ACD front, LSD rear, tires, twin scroll turbo vs. the suby's single scroll, etc etc.

I'm not intentionally knocking the WRX just to knock it. I actually really really wanted to like the WRX and was ready to buy one today, but it just really surprised (disappointed) me when I finally got to see it in person. =/

Hehe. Ford ST is also on my list of cars to check out also. Although I'm personally not a fan of the exterior styling.

Like others have said, Subaru is not trying to win over potential WRX customers with interior quality.

If you want to step up to another cheap car that will wipe the floor with an 8th gen, and has a high end interior to boot, you should be looking at GTI's.
