Project car

Ok, here is my situation. I love my civic sedan (LX) to death, but it's definitely not quenching my thirst for speed. What I would like to do is keep this car to have as my daily driver and try to find something cheap that I could fix up. Any suggsestions as to what I should take a look at? Keep in mind that I'm 21 and can't afford anything too steep on insurance.

Eh... I cant afford two NEW cars man lol. I meant something used that would be fairly cheap and make a fun project car.

The reason I didn't get the SI in the first place was because insurance was too steep for someone my age. As it is right now I'm paying 210 on my LX!

look at older 240's. SR20 engine swap...that will kill. Or a first gen GSX...you can find those cheap, would be fun to work on and is fast as hell...but it is a mitsu...

To Rems07si: The cheapest I could find is with State Farm because it's on my dad's insurance and we have a lot of discounts for being with them for over 20 years, multiple car discounts, and all kinds of stuff.

To youchasedafterme: I plan to use it mostly at the drag strip, but it doesn't necessarily have be strictly a drag car. Just something fun to drive that would be fun to work on over the weekends.

Like he said, i'd find an older 240, and do an engine swap. i'm in the same boat as you though. I'd like to spend about $1200 on a older civic hatch, or a 240 to give to a guy who is basicly like my Dad. He's always had bikes, and had to stop doing track days...it's a long story. Long story short, he loves my Si, and after all he's done for me, I thought it would be cool to buy him a car that maybe we could work on together. It would be cool to see him tooling around in his own vtec monster.

Dude, he's clearly not looking for a trade, so stop recommending it. He's looking for an older project car.
