Enthusiasts have reason to rejoice, as most of the hardware and trim is being carried over from the European market. Here is a summary of what was confirmed tonight...

Six-piston calipers will be standard on the 135i coupe. This decision was on-again, off-again for cost reasons, but the final answer is that they will indeed be on the car when it goes on sale early next year.

• Navigation will be a stand-alone option on both the 135i and the 128i. While it is typically bundled on other models as part of a Technology Package, it will be offered as a single option on these models to keep costs down.

• Interior leather colors will include black, beige, light grey, red and terra. Red and Terra will only be offered with the Premium Package. There will be no cloth offered at all in America; the base upholstery will be leatherette in black, light grey or beige.

BMW will eventually offer a factory-replacement limited-slip differential under their performance products program recently announced. There are no plans to fit a limited-slip differential as a factory-fitted option.

• Pricing for the 1 Series will likely be announced at the Los Angeles auto show in mid-November, but the target price for the 135i is in the “mid-thirties” while the 128i in base form will come in under $30,000.

Auto Spies 135i extravaganza in Sweden:

LOADS of pics.

Now that is a LOT of 135i's:

2. The design is even more aggressive in person and is a real head turner.

3. It really captures the true spirit and tradition of what a BMW is supposed to be. It's the BMW for all of you who love BMW Classic design/performance.

4. NOTHING is going to beat this thing from a bang for the buck standpoint...at least not for a year or two when all their competitors wake up and realize BMW caught everyone napping.

5. With this car, you are witnessing the re-birth of the gorgeous, fast, inexpensive rear wheel drive sports car segment. BMW has the jump now but trust us...The others WILL get into this segment.

6. There WILL be people waiting in line to buy this car. don't even waste your time with the 128. Just find the extra dough and get the 135i. You NEED this car.

BMW hits a world series style, grand slam homerun. And true car lovers will be happier because if it.

Updated Page 1 as well.

Both dealers here are taking deposits for the coupe, but not the cabrio.

Neither one will discuss Euro Delivery at this point, since the 135i is not on the ED schedule...yet.

well i don't know why they aren't taking any.
i asked and i was told not yet.
They don't even know when they will arrive so they don't want money if they can't give a time of arrival. That was my guess.
However, i was told that since i can't even build one yet, i won't know what i'll be getting till it's on it way or already there and to not have confusion they'll stay away from the cash. Either way they'll sell the cars they get when people come in so they are not taking deposits yet.

i agree. i don't want any combination and till i can't get what i want i'll hold the cash.
thing is the cash might be gone by then

Sounds like you may need to visiting other BMW dealers in your area.

Buying local only happens for me if I can get the deal I want. Otherwise, I'll go out of state. A short $99 SWA flight to save a few thousand and get a nice drive back is well worth it to me.
