EX manual with 5400 miles
I just got 36.5 MPG. I drove 409 miles between fill ups and it took 11.2 gallons to fill. I did have a little more highway miles than usual on this tank. |

YEP...it's hard but it can be done. like i said, I've done approx 42mpg one time. ONE TIME only. if i start to put the pedal to the metal, it gets considerably worse... What I suggest for those complaining, QUIT DRIVING LIKE YOU STOLE THE CAR...the end. :) |

Gas/Fuel Gauge - when is empty really empty?!?
So what is everyone's experience with how far to run down the gas gauge? On my 2nd tank, I had 1 bar left, took 11.8 gal. Tank holds 13.2, I believe. I was chicken to run any lower - my current tank I may run until no bars show.
Also, what is your opinion of the 13.2 gal capacity - is this the "recommended" max. to allow for expansion, or a physical limit to the tank? Anyone else brave enough to run to no bars on their gauge? I know - I've got way too much time to think about this stuff! ![]() |

I start to worry when I'm down to a 1/4 tank.
When I fill up, I fill up 8 gallons of gas. I know, I'm such a pu$$y! Next time, I'll be brave and run it down to a few bars. You just never know what kind of situation you'll run into where you wish you had that extra gallon of gas on tap. Better to err on the safe side. |

i see no mileage here, what did you guys get on your tank of gas?? (especially cameronJr.... since you went 53 miles after no bars)
in my 92 accord i ran it to 519 miles, as i was going up a hill i ran out of gas, i turned it around and coasted down a long long hill to the bottom where i knew there was a gas station. supposedly my accord has a 17.1 gallon tank, but even that day it only went to 16.2 or so |

EX AT Sedan w/17,500 miles... already... *sigh*
I generally avg. about 29-32 mpg, mixed driving (70% hwy, 30% city). I've taken many long highway trips on this car already, but the best I've done is 35 mpg, and that's only because I was driving 60mph the whole way. Driving 70mph, I usually avg 33 mpg. 40 mpg is UNREALISTIC!!!!!! (unless you drive a constant 48 mph the whole way) EPA gas mileage estimates on the highway cycle are not accurate. Why? The avg. speed they run a car at is about 47.5mph, and this test is the same as it was in the 1970's. How many of you drive under 50 mph on the highway? Probably no one, except for CivicWithNav when he did average 42mph. |

Maybe you should stop peeling out at every stop light and stop sign, Jin. That's pretty low for your 1.8 liter, but that's still within EPA estimates. I assume you spend a lot of time in San Francisco, so lower mpgs are going to be expected with all the stop signs and hills we have in the city (I'm from SF, too).
I'm getting 34.7 mpg of mixed use city and freeway. It's mostly been freeway, though. |
