For my most recent tankful of 89-octaine gas
Went 411 miles, and got 32.3 MPG from that tankful.

All commuter/work type driving. That is, some in town at less than 40 MPH, and some commuting on two-lane roads thru various towns at ~50 MPH.

The fuel guage bars were all long gone, and the "you need gas" light was on for quite a while, so I feel good about getting 411.2 miles out of a tankful. I probably could have gone further, if I want to push my luck. :-)

Glenn in CT
Damn, I went 420+ (From The Bronx, NYC - Westport, MA and back, on Interstate 95, @ avg ~80MPH, mostly kept under 2500RPMs) with about 3 bars left on the tank. :)

I finally broke the hallowed 40 mpg mark this weekend on a road trip to Knoxville.

405.5 miles, and 9. something gallons, which came out to around 40.9 mpg for the trip. About 45 miles city, and the rest was highway at speeds between 62 and 72 mph. :)

How long does it take to start getting over 30 MPG? I'm only on my third tank, but I'm averaging only around 26 MPG so far in mixed city/highway driving with 800 miles on the odometer. I'm driving like a granny too.

Thanks

I'm averaging 31.99mpg. I have filled 5 times since taking delivery on May 9, 2006. Calculating at today's fill I got 28.57mpg. That was after a weekend of all city driving, and I filled at half a tank. Such a HUGE difference from the Jeep Cherokee I just got rid of. I am definitely looking forward to the savings in gas each month!

Yea whats up with that? I also drive an ex sedan, and i'm getting like 25mpg. When is it supposed to get into the mid 30s? I'm still under 500 miles though. Also, how bad does A/C effect your mileage? if it has any effect

filled again today at half a tank (just to take advantage of the price before they shoot up again) Happy to say 33.97mpg is what I got this time around!

I cant find any 89 anywhere here. I put 87 in sometimes but also 91 because im afraid if i keep putting 87 in it,it will mess with the fuel injectors because i need 89+ grade.

In my experience the a/c will kill your milage
Your a/c runs off of your crank (?) pulley and it puts additional strain on the engine.

The fuel injectors don't care, they can inject water if you wanted to... If you don't have an si, don't worry about fuel quality... 87 is still good..

105 octane. I've seen it here. VERY expensive! It was like $5 a gallon before gas got all crazy high

Sure you can, once you take the octane points past what your car can time for you begin to lose hp, because high octane gas burns slower.

Uhhh yes, but why the hell would you run it in a civic...that's my point.

My dad ran cam2 110octane in his 468ci chevelle.

So he can run it in an old ass ride, but we can't because its a civic?? That question makes no sense... Put a gallon in your car when the tank is almost empty, and tell me that you don't feel a difference...
