Question Should I buy new '07 Civic or used '04-'05???

Hello, it appears as though my 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue is about to die aaaany day now and I need a new car.

I'm thinking of buying a new Civic EX w/ Navigation, OR, a 2004-2005 used Civic.

I drive mostly to school, and I will be doing so for at least the next year/year and a half. The drive is around 100 miles daily and mostly on highways.

So now I have no idea what to do.

Do I spend around 22 thousand for a brand new EX, or do I spend around 12 thousand for a used vehicle? I'm planning on paying in cash using my school loans.

What would YOU do? Appreciate the input.

well i mean the school debt is huge

so i'd say save ur self some money and get your self decent used car OR a decent used 06 Civic.

do you need a factory navi? or can u deal with an aftermarket one

I fell in love with the civic from the day one but do whats financially right for you/

There are a lot better cars out there if you're planning on buying anything lower than an EX, in terms of options and price.

Depending on how many miles the used 04/05 have on them,, I'd get that,, unless they have high mileage,, I'd opt for a 07 LX and get a *better* aftermarket system when you're more finantially able,, but idk,, you're gonna be paying for this in say 5 years,, do you really want to pay msrp of a new 07 in 2012 when its already worth a lot less,, idk your decision,, hope this helped out a bit,, just make sure that you're happy with your car and you wont have to do much maintenance,, and you drive waaay too far every day,, gl with the purchase :)

In your situation, i'd just get a reliable used car. You can enjoy a new car when you're out of school, debt free, and making bank.

buy used finish school then get a better one when you're financially stable.

i'm sure by that time the all new 2010 si is already out in the market ready for you to be pounded.

thanks for the feedback; i guess a used 7th gen civic would make more sense right now

but I don't think I want an Si; the mpg doesn't appeal to me and i don't really care for the sports-car angle thing

any more info would be greatly appreciated

Just get a beater box and buy something nice when you get out. There's no reason to put yourself in debt over a car... especially when you are in university.

I have a 7thgen (2005) coupe and I think that it's perfect for driving to school every day. I came very close to getting an 06 si not too long ago, but decided against it because of my financial situation (which seems to be very similar to yours). I love my 7thgen very much so and I think that you would too.. and if performance is something that is important to you, you could always build a project go-fast car. =D
I'm voting for the 7thgen. But I mean it, performance is nowhere near this car. It's strictly great gas mileage and comfort. Please get an automatic though, I wish I would have. I'm about 20-30 miles from school and traffic jams daily suck with a m/t.

Good luck with your purchase!
