Yes another CR-Z thread....Honda almost axed the project.....twice

Report: Honda CR-Z was almost killed twice, U.S. dealers didn't want it — Autoblog

Interesting stuff.

So of Honda of America wanted the car dead....then changed their mind once they drove it, makes me a little curious about how it'll be like.

I still think the car will suck though.

(on paper) Shoulda axed it when they had the chance...

I can't imagine it being that much more fun to drive than a Civic Si. Maybe if the rumored type-R version ever makes it (yea.. right...) then *maybe*

Mark my words - this car will sell.

It looks to be a well balanced platform with just enough grunt to make it fun, though I do foresee a slight boost in power down the road.

rori ( f*ck your form ) <3
I say dont knock it till you have tried it. If HOA wanted it axed but then changed their mind after driving it then that says something. Lets just wait and see and be happy that a car like this is making it to this side of the pacific.

Should have been axed just like the Ridgeline, Element, and probably the cross tourer. All of these units sell less or just about 10,000 units. Honda axed the Prelude when it was selling at around 10,000 units. This seriously is not going to sell.

not likely to happen because the engine room is too small. in the conception stage they've thought about having k20+IMA but it didnt fit the engine room. got this info from a japanese car magazine Best Car

Depends on your frame of reference. When was it considered that 197 was enough? 250? 300?

Point being, what you consider adequate is underpowered to someone else.

So Honda axed the S2000 for this??? The world is coming to an end!! Mazda f-ed up on the Mazdaspeed3. Subaru f-ed up on the STi. This is proof that 2012 is true.

Subaru got the STI and WRX hatch right. It should of always been a hatchback wagon. The last gen was fast but wasn't practical. I wish they discontinued the sedan imprezas, god the new sedans are fugly. The new hatch i love those are awesome.
