They sure do! Usually after semi-big mountain bike races. ie Leadville 100, Wilderness 101...

man, i havnt been to nearly enough trails here. i usually ride near where i live which is why i want a road bike so bad. the only trails ive ridden in Austin are Walnut Creek and Town Lake. i plan to hit up the Greenbelt soon though. maybe thats the place youre referring to? if i ever come to SA, ill def be seeing if we could coordinate something.

Dawn, Do you have a speedometer/odometer?
Sorry, Pao, I didn't see this. YEs, I have a Cateye on the bike. I'm thinking about upgrading to the one that keeps cadence.

i guess the whole suit on a bike (or in your backpack) thing would suck haha. and 17 miles is pretty hefty for a morning ride to work. i wouldnt have done it without a shower either. so what is this whole Muddy Buddy thing about? a good friend of mine from HS posted up a bunch of pics on Facebook from a recent event in Houston i think? looks crazy and fun at the same time. im kind of interested

Yeah if I was only like 10-15 miles to my work I would definitely consider it specially here at my work, the building restroom has a shower so I can just go straight to work and shower here.

Pao, Cateyes are some of the best and best priced. Garmin has small units that map your ride and log your data. They canbe downloaded into your computer.

Cateye probably makes the best computers short of GPS computers (Garmin) and power meters (SRM and PowerTap). Cadence computers are beneficial for beginner riders, or those who are learning to ride in a group. You may find it unnecessary after you become more used to riding and having a general cadence in your head. At least that's what I found.

My personal favorite Cateye is the Strata Wireless.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of wireless? I heard if you bike around cell towers its not as good. I dont know if its true or not.

As far as the cell towers, I have no idea. I don't think it would affect the sensor. The computer sensor uses a magnet to pick up how fast you are going.

Disadvantages > none.
Advantages > Easy install, no wires, cleaner look on bike.

I have an older cannondale scalpel and about 2 weeks ago I bought an old 70's John Deere roadbike to restore, this is my first roadbike and it feels so weird and different from the mt bike.
