The ECU flash is by Hondata, so you'll be sending your ECU to them. They flash it with the software, and boom, no hesitation.

I wager you'd still recommend at least some mods to the car in order to get the most out of the reflash.

Any idea on the impact on the car's pollution output?

I guess I'll be waiting a bit still for Honda to address the issue.

I don't think this is a $75 fix, unless you have already reflashed your ECU through Hondata. $75 is an UPGRADE fee. If you ECU hasn't yet been reflashed, it'll cost you $595 according to their website.

- All new reflashes incorporate the RPM hang fix.
- Recommended mods are as listed on the web site
- No change to the pollution output
- These changes are the official Honda changes.
- The upgrade only applies to existing reflash owners

The RPM hang was the lesser of two evils in my opinion. What effect will this reflash have on the DBW lag- the brief moment of time that I let my foot off the gas that the car is still applying gas?

The RPM hang I refer to is what you refer to as the DBW lag. I datalogged the issue and it and it showed the throttle correctly returning to zero on liftoff. The ECU, however kept feeding fuel to the engine instead of shutting off the injectors.

We have tested the new program on out two 06 Civics and it is a definite improvement.

Aha! So it was an error!

But, won't Honda be addressing this concern and issuing its own reflash?

The RPM behaviour probably related to reducing emissions.

Honda will issue an upgrade.

Maybe this has been discussed before, but does Hondata have any plans to release anything for the R18?

Thanks.

to hell with honda!!!
i'm going hondata all the way...but that's me.

reason being honda should have got it right the first time....they didn't cuz it's probably an emissions thing...so it's kinda like they still weren't wrong for having the hang...but it's probably too much of a hang...they'll probably reduce it a little but it will still be there(i'm guessing).

but the way i see it...if u going to be modding ur care like i am....might as well go hondata anyway...cuz honda's fix will be erased by their stuff anyway...oh so i think..

i'm down for correction...

either way my ECU will be out on monday.
