Mobil-1 or K&N Oil filter part number? ('06 Si)

Does anyone happen to know the Mobil-1 or K&N part number for their oil filters for the '06 Si. (Yes, I am being lazy, but thank you anyway)

Although the M 1 Filter is better than a K&N, a WIX 51356 is better yet... or you can use the NAPA Gold 1356 which is a WIX and it should run beteen $6.00 and $8.00.

I'd like to add an experience with K&N oil filter from a few weeks ago.

I was driving home from work one night, and my oil light came on while slowing down for a stop light. I immediately began to freak and sat there for a second hoping it would go out with my hand on the key waiting to turn the car off. It went out. Thankfully there was a Wawa right down the street, so I went straight there driving as easy as I could, yet still in a hurry.

I check my dipstick, it's basically dry. So I buy enough oil to bring it up to the proper level and a few extra quarts in case I had to pull off and add more oil on the way home. The next day I start the car up, let it idle for a minute and take a look underneath. To my dismay, I there was a rather large puddle of oil forming.

So I turn the car off and go get my jack and jack stands and get underneath the car. Had my friend start the car up, and I immediately see where it's leaking. It was leaking from around that bolt on the bottom of the K&N oil filter.

I was shocked as I have been using K&N filters on my Prelude for 60 some thousand miles and had no problems. Needless to say I did not replace it with another K&N. I'll admit, I thought about it, but my Dad and friend Darren thought that would be the dumbest idea ever and basically talked me out of it.

Just thought I'd share my experience-I'm not saying don't use K&N oil filters, just be careful. I'm sure this has to be a rather isolated incident...I however have not contacted K&N about the problem.

Hey guys. I'm also a member of the ElementOwnersClub. We did a comprehensive oil filter survey and found surprising results on the quality. Interesting to check out.

Here are a few facts to go along with your filter survey..

It is several years old just for starters, so Honda probably has a new supplier as they go out for LOW Bid every few years, usually 3.

This is one of those "We cut the Filters Apart" Tests which except for the construction of the filter, have no meaning. Fram automotive and Motorcycle filters have cardboard end caps that are hot glued on and utilize a piece of stamped steel for the by-pass valve. On top of that they have a poor Micron Rating somewhere around 35-40 Microns depending on the filter. The human eye can see down to about 42 Microns.

So that 35-40 sounds pretty good, don't it ? .... Not even close, 65% of wear, caused by dirt, is caused by particles in the 5-25 Micron Range.. Still doubt how good a Fram is ? C'mon over to my place, I have two filter demonstrators, one with a Fram, the other with a WIX.... The Fram will make your eyes pop when I show you how much dirt it releases back into the oil with road vibration... The one with the WIX is still new.... the WIX works too good for a demo. (Says a lot right there)

Now about the Mobil 1 and the AMSOIL... Again, several year old test as the SDF Filter hasn't been made in 3 years, but it will still outperform most of the filters out there.. $14.00 at the Auto Parts (3 yrs ago), and still not that much from me today, with a better filter...

WHY, would a company put more media in a housing than required to do it's job (AMSOIL, WIX and Mobil 1) ALL Top tier Filters... The better question is, why do the other filter have to use so much Media to do half as good of a job ?

Back to Micron Ratings... The AMSOIL EA Filters are conservatively rated at 15 Micron Absolute, not a better filter on the market today... WIX is 15-17 @ 84% with Synthetic Glass Media, Mobil 1 is right there too, then K&N with about 17 Micron and 74-76% efficient but they do not hold the dirt very well.
